Just wanted to acknowledge the numerous great artists from our norther neighbors. Some of this is old and may give my age away(40 something)
I heard Magic Power by Triumph this morning and it made me think about all the great music from Canada.
Hope you enjoy and please, add some of your favorite Canadian artists.
You forgot one of the best from Canada Theory of a Deadman
I have been a Sound Engineer for 25+ years and these guys are one of the best bands ever.
I actually had a job doing sound fer them, I had shoulder problems and had to turn that gig down.
Aw man, another great band I forgot, thanks! Sound engineer eh? A valuable profession man, bet you have some good stories! So what acoustic guitar
pickup's do you think work best for small gigs? I was looking at a K&K.
OK, I'm going to all over the place on this. I'll play the hard music first. Just in case we have metal heads here and those that aren't can skip
it quick.
You might want to skip this one too if you're too young. It's funny though. The first Canadian #1 song:
More mainstream:
Relatively new band. The Sheepdogs:
From the Grunge era. Moist:
And some old, great stuff. 5 Man Electrical Band:
The Stampeders:
Some Canadian folk:
Maritime Folk:
Country? Rankins:
And this one just because the old Canadian out rocked the kids:
Man O Man the stories number in the thousands. My family and friends keep telling me to write a book.
But I'm not the "Kiss and Tell" type. I prefer to vocalize them other than putting them in text.
I've only heard good reports on the K&K pickups. Ya probably won't find any better fer the price.
A few important details fer good sound. Use as least power as possible, stay in the green on signal display,
never trust yer ears and then there is speaker placement. I create a sound field when I do my gigs.
With the field, You can hear the high end and vocals clearly and the low end makes yer body vibrate.
I've heard some of the best performances with bottom end equipment and talent.
I hope this helps. "May your notes be strong and yer strings unbroken"
Hey thanks man, a nice spread of genre and time
I like Protest The Hero, metal without the bellowing grumble, and distinguishable lyrics, old school in my book. haha
The sheepdogs are cool too, a little Allman Brother-ish, lots of feel to them.
Moist sounds good, couldn't watch the one you put up, but found this:
Grunge was one of my favorite genres, so I dig it!
Signs, get up groove man, me likes it!
Valdy has a soothing storytelling voice, very nice. I will check more of his works.
The others are good to, but these hit me best.
Thanks for the addition intrepid. Have a good Sunday bro!
The only good no kiss n tellin' comes from a good song, imo! And it don't have to be lyrics either, the music speaks well too, as you know.
Thanks for the tip, and yea, I was keeping the power to the pickup the same as the rest of the mix, so I can relate to that.
I've heard some of the best performances with bottom end equipment and talent.
Hear hear to that! Hey I might u2 ya in the future for some advice.
Thanks again LeRoy, have a good un'!

ETA: Off topic, but I justr heard this from Walsh and thought I'd share. Not only is the sound, as usal, awesome, but the lyrics....superb! Gotta
git me an analogue girl

I have to include this lady as well.
I got the privilege of doing her sound at a gig one night.
Very sweet lady and I learned more about Inuit culture that night.
I wish I could have tried the seal meat and the whale blubber but I was too busy sadly enough and it was all gone by the time I had a chance.
I could keep adding band after band of good talent from up here.
