I know I'm no Edgar Allan Poe or Emily Dickinson but I still enjoy sharing my writing regardless of it's poetic value. Don't be too harsh on me as I'm not posting it as a work of greatness, rather just something I wrote and felt like sharing.

Sounds stupid but to understand the flow(if there is any) read it in the tone of the nursery rhyme hush little baby, don't say a word. Mamas gonna buy you a mocking bird.

Stuck in a sea of oblivion
Wish the sheep knew how to swim
Sick of watching our values sink
Seems we forgot how to THINK

We are born and told this is the way
Life as slaves is the role we play
Alive for minutes and tagged with a NUMBER
Owned by a system meant to encumber

Chained and shackled by the BEAST
Hope someday we can be released
Failing to realize the big magic TRICK
Following a carrot on a stick

Tired of watching the busy BEES
Continue spreading their mental disease
Chasing after all that paper money
While forgetting life's real HONEY

Keeping us occupied to prevent insurrection
Holding us hostage to our need for food and protection
In order to eat you must work more than you LIVE
Devoting your life to work for the man is how you give

Creating idols that rise to riches
Really no different than a snake oil salesman's pitches
Stop blocking the truth and believing the plan
Remember it's been around the whole age of man

I'm not much of a writer but I try
No need to ask myself and wonder why
Goodbye my friends please don't hate
It does no good and prevents a clear state

Thanks for reading.

Sorry just got off work after staring at programming code for 12 hours I'm a little fried, I'm afraid I'm unable to understand your pun on the last line. Do me a favour and explain it in a way a first grader would understand as that's probably where my brain is at now due to exhaustion. To answer the question directly, I'm thinking about taking a break from ATS for a bit.

P.S: I love your avatar.

The pun- I was referring to you saying 'goodbye' and I wondered where you were going? Maybe to some dry land, as opposed to stuck the sea.

The goodbye, yea I plan on taking a break from the interwebz all together this summer and then return for the fall doomngloom and of course the end o the world in December.

Peace,
spec

Ah makes sense, doh.

The goodbye, LOL I was thinking of doing it the same way. I can't quit the whole interwebz as my work revolves around it but I was thinking about coming back around the same time for the same reasons.
