old navy hand here.

I was in the service when Reagan made the "600 ship fleet" his goal, it was an arbitrary goal designed to push the Soviets to their limits. But in the end, our 600 ship fleet was a lot of old 60's "pig boats" (sailors will know what that means), older, slower, all around crap ships. We ended up with our navy looking a lot more like the Soviet navy - lots of ships, nothing to pretty to look at, other than the handful of new ships built.

The current navy is WAY better, almost all the ships are newer, with the carrier fleet being very cutting edge, it's a much better navy that the one Reagan got. Don't let "number of ships" be the criteria you judge the navy by.

BTW, "littoral ships" (the two that we have been building for a decade now) have really been a boondoggle that has impacted other shipbuilding projects, thanks to the cronies in Congress who insisted on building those bloated expensive albatrosses.

It is all about quantity and quality. The US Navy has both.

sure is weird how US spends among the MOST,

but China spends among the least among the big militaries,

yet China has the most military MANPOWER of all!

First, this is naval power, so overall manpower has no meaning here, according to your chart the US has more naval manpower. Second, manpower is meaningless when you can't get that power where you need it. Smaller numbers with higher levels of technology is vastly superior, how did Iraq's 350,000 strong military do?

I beleive that the United States has been engineered to collapse from the inside out. A foreign enemy will infiltrate and destroy from within. When traitors reach the government and gain control the entire nation will begin falling apart one column at a time.

Why does the US need a Navy to oppose China? America would never win a land war against China.

Are you serious??!
I guess you've not heard of the Korean War have you?
