As the queen owns the UK, does that make it's people slaves. Does other countries have a responsibility t free us from slavery? Or do they not because we no longer have any oil?

Interesting question. Academically, the United Kingdom is a Representative Monarch. The Monarch being a figure head only and no real authority. Though the reality may be much different.

I am a firm believer that the Individual is the sole source of political power. That Individuals delegate their political power to Government to have a successful society.

Either way, a prudent and thoughtful question...

Is this not the same question you have asked...or basically the same as the other 2 threads you started in the last 30 mins?

Isn't one thread enough on this subject?

the monarchy is great britain's source of power. because many in the u.k. only know of the queen, the people have come accustomed to being under her rule.

when the king ascends the throne, many people will then feel a change and realize the enormous influence the monarch has, even though the day to day running of the country is left in parliaments hands.

The United Kingdom is a constitutional monarchy. The monarch is the symbolic de-facto head of state, however anything the Queen does in the name of the crown has to be approved by parliament.
The monarchy is merely a symbolic public body nowadays.

The constitutional writer Walter Bagehot identified the monarchy in 1867 as the "dignified part" rather than the "efficient part" of government.

So no, we're not slaves, we have a monarchy because the people allow a monarchy to exist. If it wasn't favorable then we would become a republic. But for the moment most people approve of keeping the tradition alive.

If you are living in the UK, you know perfectly well that the Queen has never, at any time of your life, told you what to do. So your own experience answers your own question.

"The Queen owns the United Kingdom" is a legal fiction, like "the British summer".
