Europeans will suffer from Iran sanctions most

It may actually look that way if you think about it.

Iranian Foreign Minister Ali Akbar Salehi may have a point this time.

The EU did balk and delay the sanctions as they realized economic damage could result to them.

The sanctions imposed together with the Iranian efforts to stop exports have indeed appeared to have caused oil price spikes on world markets.

The real victims may in fact be the EU citizens. Iran can help themselves to their own oil. Europe can't.

"The expense and damage [inflicted] by sanctions and economic pressure imposed against Iran are targeting the people of Western states who are grappling with harsh economic crisis," Salehi said on Saturday during a meeting with South African Energy Minister Dipuo Peters in Tehran.

The Iranian foreign minister went on to say that Tehran has managed sanctions against the country by maintaining its political independence in the international arena.

The United States and its European allies imposed further sanctions against Tehran in their efforts to stop the country’s peaceful nuclear energy program.

Well... I'm european... I'm cool with it... as long as Iran does its part of the deal and pushes the israeli root of all evil into the mediterranean...

Well, sanctions require something lose an item they were used to having, right? Otherwise..what is being sanctioned for those who supply? If they couldn't take the hit in the teeth themselves, this would have been a good thing to pass on. Perhaps it could have been a point to lower the temperature of the war talk and momentum.

I agree though. The EU will be among the hardest hit. Lets not forget Japan and South Korea though. Both of them take a measurable % of their oil imports from Iran. It isn't measurable to a nation changing level, but Japan especially, is more than a little off their game for new market problems to say the least. Everyone wanted to squeeze Iran like a grape though...so they can share the pain before the real issues hit everyone.
