Russian cops mistake nationalist rally for gay pride parade

How would they make THAT mistake we wonder ?

Well it luuks like they actually believed some anonymous tipster of all things.

Russian police shut down a nationalist rally promoting a healthy lifestyle in the Kaliningrad region after mistaking the weekend gathering for a gay pride parade, according to a Baltic news agency.

The two dozen activists -- hoisting a black, yellow and white banner of imperial Russia -- had taken to the streets in Sovetsk to promote jogging, according to the news site 40161.ru, which covers the former Soviet enclave.

But they were quickly met by police who escorted them to the Interior Ministry.

Police told them that a "vigilant citizen" had tipped off authorities in an anonymous phone call that the unsanctioned gathering was a gay pride parade.

It is not the first time the nationalists have run afoul of the law, RIA Novosti notes. [color=gold]Their jogging rally in Moscow's Izamilovsky Park last February ended with most participants fined for jaywalking, the news agency reports.

I guess those cops had a hard time telling a jogging rally from a parade !!

I wonder what kind of floats they were expecting ?

I thought they had permits for everything in Ruusia ?

I noticed they referred something to "Rainbow Race".

Next year they can confuse the whole thing with Jesse Jackson's "Rainbow Coalition"

That would be more "Gin" related

Here is the rally from a couple years ago.

It gets kind of heated when they break out the rainbow flag around the 30 second mark.



They won't allow these parades but they allow Putin to kiss the torso of young boys.



I'm not familiar with Russian culture but that seems a bit taboo if you ask me, especially in a country where they won't allow "pride parades".
