In the UK - people can be given a harassment warning - with very little chance to contest this or much evidence having been provided to be the subject
of such a warning.
This warning then appears on that persons extended CRB check - which is very likely to impact their chances/prospects in job hunting, amongst other
things they may try later in life (fostering/adoption and am sure there are other things that are affected)

What is upsetting is that there is no procedure for appealing against the making of a harassment warning and for many, this can feel highly unfair.
The person who is sent the warning can often feel as though they are being prosecuted, especially when they have had no opportunity to present their
side of the story
I think this is disgraceful. At no point should the police be able to just give someone a warning that can impact their lives so much - if something
is likely to appear on an extended CRB check, then it needs to go before a magistrate or judge of some sort.
Yes courts/judges cost more - but what price justice? Police are there to uphold the law - not to become judge and jury as well.
