It's like a canibalistic meat eating plantanimal, and it can move, i am glad it's not bigger.

Mesodinium Chamaeleon are either plant or animal. Using its hundreds of tiny hairs, dashing through the water and find a plant that it eats. Then it transforms itself into a plant.

The little 'Mesodinium' is special because it both gets his energy by eating other organisms - like an animal does - and by doing photosynthesis - like a plant.

I, for one, would like to welcome our new 1/2 plant 1/2 animal overlords.

talk about being self sufficient. if no food is available, just get a little bit of sunshine and all is well.

that is if the plant part of the creature is able to create enought sustinance to maintain a healthy long life.

Stuff like this could be the answer to designing animal chromataphores that do plant photosynthesis where we could then get actual nutritional value from sun light through our designer skin.

Who knows this could be the next species to dominate the earth after us mammals are made extinct. We started as some tiny fish or whatever it was back in the day so maybe its not such a weird idea...
