The State Department on Thursday announced that it’s punting a decision on the controversial Keystone XL pipeline until at least the first quarter of 2013 — pushing off a no-win decision for President Barack Obama until well after the 2012 election. The State Department said it needs more time to "undertake an in-depth assessment of potential alternative routes in Nebraska."

Yeah that is some fearless leader we have. Do you really think he gives a crap about anyone but himself? Hell no he doesn't. The only thing he gives a crap is about his own power and his control and his job.

All us little people don't matter for nothing nor does this nation's survival the current Potus is a joke. That pipeline could create billions of tax revenue for states and jobs for people but no that doesn't matter.

Pathetic!

Another post that is right on target, Neo. If Obama had smelled political gain and so much as 1 vote for his net gain, he would have supported this or condemned it, whichever his pollsters told him would work better.

However, if he's against it, he has to explain why THOSE jobs aren't worth saving or creating. If he's for it, he has to explain to the greenie weenies why he allowed a pipe carrying what they seem to believe is the blood of Satan himself across our fine nation.

Talk about a no win situation for a man with absolutely no principles or values to call his own. I may not have liked Clinton, by comparison, but HIS bad decisions were made from a position of belief in what he was doing....not the lack of it and fear to make any decision at all. Boo on Obama!

Why aren't you complaining about Nebraska also? They didn't want this pipeline coming through their state. This could generate billions in taxes from whom? Oil companies pay virtually no taxes as it is now.

Well he obviously doesn't want oil flowing through underground pipes generating thousands upon thousands of jobs and relieving our dependency on foreign oil.

He prefers it be spilled into the gulf where we dump toxins on it to disperse it into the eco system killing millions of fish and other sea life costing tens of thousands of jobs. Then regranting the drill rights to the same corporation that caused the problem to begin with.

Yay Liberal hypocrisy!

Change.

And governmental transparency.

I remember hearing those words bandied about.

I remember scoffing at them then.

Does this resemble change to anyone?

Well he certainly peed off Halliburton and the connects there .

Any guesses on how long the decision will be postponed? Here’s a hint: Remember how Obama steadfastly refused any short-term deals during the debt-ceiling standoff, even while he was warning Americans daily that not raising the ceiling would bring about the apocalypse? Oddly enough, he was willing to risk fiscal ruin in order to avoid dealing with the issue again before November 2012.

Yeah Yeah Nebraska.

Looks like the GOP is actually rejecting the jobs.

This is a sore spot with me. We have to stop this pipeline whether it goes south into the states or west to our coast for export. Enough raping of our resources and ruining our land, it's time to get away from oil and start getting the alternative energies up and running.

It's still foreign oil, just from a friendly country

But you're right, America should be drilling way more of it's own oil, people get mad about Canada's oil sands, yet under the energy agreement, we have to supply a certain amount (percentage (?)).

Unless there was a war declared, fought and won against Canada... This would still bee foreign oil. As I believe Canada is still a sovereign nation.

The Keystone Pipeline System is a pipeline system to transport synthetic crude oil and diluted bitumen ("dilbit") from the Athabasca Oil Sands in northeastern Alberta, Canada
