Seven foreign lorry drivers three Indians, three Kenyans and one Egyptian who have been held hostage for over a month have been released by militants in Iraq and are now makeing their way back Kuwait.

BBC NEWS

The relatives of the Indian hostages have been celebrating since news of their release was flashed on Indian television.

"We thank the captors for sparing our boys," said Harvinder Singh, elder brother of one of the freed Indians, Sukhdev Singh.

The news has also been welcomed by the Indian government.

Kenya's government will not react until the men arrive safely in Kuwait, following embarrassment after the foreign minister erroneously announced their release earlier this month.

All I have to say is after seeing the recent killings of the12 Nepali hostages. I'm glad that these people are back in safe hands and have not been killed and left any families without a husband.

I always wonder, what drives these people to release their captives?
Do they realize they're being stupid?
Did the prisoners talk them out of it? (I have children!)
