Q. Did the Police use tear gas?

A. Yes, the Police used a limited amount of tear gas for a small area as a defense against protesters who were throwing various objects at Police Officers as they approached the area.

The objects included glass bottles, rocks, pots, pans, kitchen utensils and plates at Police Officers.

In addition, the protesters sprayed a Fire Extinguisher on Police Officers.

Q. What were the exact concerns for Health and Safety?

A. There were a series of safety conditions, including numerous reports of fighting, assault and threatening/intimidating behavior.

There are so many threads about what happened in Oakland and I just want to be sure this document is presented here in ATS, regardless how much of it is BS or not.

Interesting to read some of the comments made in the source povided :

Whenever there is the slightest possibility of violence here in Germany the police have surveillance teams with them to document what is happening... even at sports events or larger fests where people are most likely drunk etc.

Assuming that the Oakland police applies similar practices, I would like to see the footage of violent protesters.

No Police Cams.
You see...here in CA, even though PD's were ordered by the courts to install them in cars after the Rodney King incident..., they fight it tooth and nail, and major cities Like LA for example, have no cameras in the Police Cars.
Yeah I know.....crazy, huh?

With Oakland being one of the most liberal cities in that State, I'm guessing the protestors had to turn really ugly before they were forced to do something.

Violence and vandalism are not civil disobedience, they are just examples of criminals committing crimes.

It is inevitable since SEIU and others like Code Pink got involved and seem to be taking over. They never go anywhere without the radical socialist, Marxist and communists groups in tow. That's what happens when their is no real organization or clear message; you end up with a real mess and a mass of social deviants and criminals along for the ride.

As always, I fully support peaceful protest even if I don't agree with the cause, but the violent thugs who always show up deserve whatever happens to them. Sad that the peaceful protestors have to put up with these sick people invading their ranks.

The fact all the polls indicate a full third of the protesters are among these creeps is a bad sign. From the poll here we have plenty of these thugs posting here. Luckily the active protestors are still a very small group compared to the numbers involved in genuine, organized, effective protests in the past. The thugs will always flock like moths to a flame and destroy anything they touch. Their real goal is violence, destruction and mayhem and it's like a drug to them. So sad so many youth fall for their lies and brainwashing.

Even sadder that a political party has chosen to try and claim it for their own. It will backfire on them for sure, since they are the ones the protestors should be after. Amazing how many they have fooled, who fail to understand it is them who make all the bad stuff possible. If the protestors understood what they are talking about, they would be in DC, but they don't. So many can't even answer why they are protesting its troubling to say the least.

Those who are for real and do understand what is going on Drive those creeps like the Unions and political party away who are trying to take you over. Then you won't have any problems with the Police and the public will listen. Otherwise?
