pull it out, slowly, slowly
don't break the skin,
it's life is too thin

the thread must remain, always remain
for you to gain control again

it thinks it is safe while calling on help
thinks it can beat what is lying inside
but you'll make constant fear abide

learn to be the quiet voice
hiding deep in darkest night
feel the rush of fight or flight

the thread must remain, always remain
for you to gain control again

panic and fear you must incite
this is your food, digest it well
from out here in the depths of hell

keep it just strong enough
to nurture the pain
eternally will your feeder remain

I was a little bit confused with this piece, by reading the title I automatically assumed it was a wizard giving instructions, but as I read it again and again, I’m thinking its a demon or sprit giving advice on possession.
And am I right in thinking the food is a metaphor for knowledge.

Yeah, more like a demon talking to another apprentice demon about how to suck the life from someone over a long period of time while maintaining control. It seemed rather spooky, to go with the theme. Thanks for the comment and I hope you enjoyed it. (Thanks for reading the message too. )
