Attention Revolutionaries: Sell out now! (Really, it's the only way you're ever going to win)

There's this revolutionary current running through our society that you've probably noticed, but I don't think too many people really expect it to happen in a widespread and serious way. There won't be a seige of Washington DC and the capture of the corrupt leaders as newly liberated people celebrate. There probably won't even be a culture clash on the level of that in the late 60s. People are still too safe and comfortable- even in a nation stretched to the breaking point and scared senseless for what might happen to us next, almost everybody still feels like they've got a lot to lose if they stop rowing and start rocking the boat.

Maybe there will be a fluke election and a couple big changes will be made. Maybe the government will keep getting worse and worse for years or decades to come and eventually collapse, then there will be a chance to build something better in the aftermath. Maybe we will adjust to a "new normal" and go through a decade of malaise, then just repeat the whole freaking cycle again. Who knows. Who cares. We all basically understand that things suck, and that we'd be foolish to expect anybody to fix them. From there it's just a question of what we are specifically most worried about and who we have turned to for help and why- the things that divide the majority desiring change into paranoid rival minorities. Those are political questions though and they miss the point. Politics aren't what creates order or change in America. Money creates order and change in America. You can take two people who don't understand eachother, don't respect eachother, can't stand eachother, and pay em both minimum wage to go to the same place every day, and both of them will keep showing up day after day, no matter what they do to eachother. Let's see a preacher or a civil rights leader or a lawyer or a politician or even a prison guard pull that off as well. Hillary Clinton couldn't even do it with her own campaign staff!

So let's get down to brass tacks. I propose that the revolutionaries sell out and use the proceeds to buy in. Get money, incorporate, and compete with the corporate and government establishment for the public's trust and their business. Stop insisting on getting what you want through an explosion of truth and activism and virtue... just get it by manipulating the ebb and flow of greed and laziness in the general population, like very other cause in the world does.

Step 1. Incorporate. This is going to take some dilligent work and quite possibly an initial investment, so it's liable never to happen just like all other revolutionary plans, but this step is absolutely necessary, because it makes everything else safe and easy. Incorporating will give you a legitimate and stable image that will make it much easier to recruit and take action. It will create a safe buffer between your personal and public life, giving you and those you recruit some increased financial, social, and legal security. It will also create a solid organization for your movement and an objective way to measure progress.

Step 2. Marketing, Raising Capital, and Expanding. The cool thing about branding and marketing revolution is how incredibly easy it would be. Marketing through merchandising could actually be the first business of an incorporated revolution. The second business would probably be communications- establishing a media presence and mapping out the flow of information, money, and action in your movement. Opposition itself would be your chief product, and it would be free, with purchase of a 2 year subscription to your magazine and a 20 dollar Tshirt.

Step 3. Overtaking the government. So at a certain point, you have the voice, you have the audience, you have the money and the employees and the consumers- you have the power. When you pay to put a commercial on TV, it becomes a news story and soon afterwards it becomes a reality. You get to put things on the agenda as it were. Now it's time to break into the actual government services industry and become the new leading provider. But that's A LOT to do. Most revolutions just aren't up to it even if they can do all that other stuff it takes to get a revolution off the ground.
So you franchise it. You sell franchises in every conceivable industry. Security companies to compete with police, home school assistance services to compete with schools, legal offices to compete with the courts and DMV et al, charities to compete with social welfare programs- if the government is doing it, you back somebody else to do it instead, as long as there is some way to keep it afloat financially. Of course this will produce a lot of corruption and failure, like all revolutions do, but you're not investing in that corruption and failure, you're profiting from it, and your business model just continues because now you can oppose those failures...

Phase 4. Endgame. Now eventually people depend on your revolution more than the government. You are the one they look in the aftermath of a disaster, you are the one they call when they are in danger, you are the one they come to when they need help getting something done, you are the group that people associate themselves with- in short, a large number of people stop thinking of themselves as citizens and start thinking of themselves as members of the revolution. At this point, it's as simple as pulling the plug- if most of the population suddenly stops showing up for court, stops renewing their government documents, stops pulling over for policemen, and stops paying their taxes, the government will collapse in a couple of months, and the revolutionary corporation is all that's left... of course thats true right now, in the absence of such a revolution, but people won't disobey the government without something they perceive as a higher and more powerful authority to assure that it will be OK, that can protect them.

It will hardly be Utopian- ignorance and greed and laziness and manipulation will still be the order of the day, and there will still be needs that go unmet and problems that we cannot solve. But the silver lining will be that the authorities are chosen and hired rather than automatically paid just because they have a monopolgy enforced by men with guns. Its a small realistic improvement, and all it requires is a corporate super-entity with plans for world domination... which are a dime a dozen these days anyway.

If what you mean by using the ebb and flow of greed and the corrupt system to better yourself, you mean to eventually leave the system and get of the grid; become self-sufficient, then yes I agree. The problem is most people get lost in the pretty light like moths on a porch light. Greed is not something to play with.

The problem is the part of the middle class and low class that is feeling stretched out and pessimestic about the future have no voice or lead. They float sensely in the ebb and flow with no direction, no anchor. Completly left open to the current of culture and society unable to protect themselves against the blood sucking bearucrats who play god.

If we could by shear mass invest in the small business man, the small farmer, the small health practice, and then control the market by flushing out the # from our LAST GOVERNMENT, we may then find ourselves again in control. I don't think people really understand what this means though. It means you will have to make your own decisions, make up your own mind about what is truth and lies, what is of value and what isnt. It restarts all over again, but it will take true WILL power.

Until then we remain stagnant.

This sounds an awfully lot like what the tea party has done. I think it remains to be seen how well it works out for them.

What I mean by using the ebb and flow of greed and laziness to get what you want, when what you want is a change in the status quo, is that you cannot expect people to change, but rather must deal with them as they are. You must realize that the majority of people will never agree on a viewpoint and plan enough to seize control through the market. The market is the means of control in this country, but it is clear that the control doesn't come from the choices that the people consciously make, but from the landscape engineered around them, through which the vast majority take the path of least resistance. It is not about getting off of the 'grid', but about taking control of strategic positions on that grid that allow you to steer the path of least resistance and thus change the likelihood of people making various choices. It does not give complete control, but it gives you a lot of influence on the probabilities of our Evolution.

They aren't unable to protect themselves, they have a far greater potential force than the bureaucrats, they just don't undertake much effort or risk for any initiative- they don't do anything they don't have to because they are always being required to do unpleasant things, and I guess they are traumatized. That's basically on us. The status quo isn't some ancient conspiracy that built this whole reality around us- they are products of our system who came together under the conditions of this system and did something similar to what I'm talking about, largely by the semi-accidental accumulation of short-sighted acts of self interest.

It could be better to have more than one group of this nature. Unless concentration of force and resources is needed.

Anyway TPTB know where the sweet spots are and will detect most attempts to take them.

Off the grid is a better option than it used to be. Technology has enabled an independent dwelling to have all of the fruits of current civilization, everything but geographic proximity to this and that. The first concern should be secure communication.
the internet will become a gauntlet of hooks.

Off the grid industry, leading to off the grid economy, is one possible way to go.
