9-9-9 Is nothing more than a plan to take the weakest and poorest Americans and crush them under Mr. Cain's bootheel. It looks simple and attractive at first then the numbers start telling the truth. He uses a 9% income tax which on its surface is a reduction, but then adds a sales tax which is a sucker punch. A 9% sales tax will extract more than the 6% income tax that he has cut down to 9%. Add that 9% on Ohio sales tax and then you are paying not a 9% sales tax you are paying 16% sales tax thereby forcing the nations poorest to buy the cheapest lowest quality goods driving demand for more unequal trade policies with yet more third world countries further driving unemployment for the poorest class.

This is such baloney.

I would be in favor of a fair tax if we ever got to the point where we had fair compensation. Once the billionaires give away their wealth and work for minimum wage I will favor a fair tax as Herman Cain proposes.

I agree, any attempt to overhaul the current system should be phased in.. that way the transition is smoother and they can really start to eliminate the unnecessary agencies, eliminate the redundant programs, and start to get used to working with a realistic, transparent and ethical approach to handling their responsibilities to the folks who pay their salaries..

I just hope that people don't forget that in order for any real change to occur, it has to include throwing the lifer Capitol Hill out on their colllective rear ends..

A President cannot accomplish this on his own.

A President Herman Cain with the powerful Tea Party behind him could do it.

A huge bulldozer with words Tea Party & Free Market Capitalism written on it is about to run over the
socialists Obama/Reid/Pelosi.

The time has come to - reduce - the size of the U.S. government.

YES! Not to mention, who the heck can afford an additional 9% sales tax? My family can't. For us, that would put the tax rate over 18%. Guess the kids could go without clothing.....NOT!

Cain lost ALL chance of support from us with that BS plan. His failure to explain what, exactly, an "empowerment zone" is didn't help, either. All anyone can figure is inner cities (typically all minorities) would get big breaks, and the rest of us would foot the bill.

That's what he states, but the fact is, his 999 plan does NOT put an end to income tax; it simply makes it 9%, with NO deductions. Unless you are, like Cain, earning your income from capital gains. My family can't afford that. Military pay isn't very good as it is, and we NEED those deductions. Can't afford 9% ADDITIONAL sales tax, either. Cain is LYING when he states that the state and local taxes are somehow "not the same". BS! They do NOT stop with his plan, and he KNOWS this. He also will not state that food would not be taxed. Frankly, my family can't afford to LIVE under his BS plan. I did the math, like he suggested. We would lose our home, be unable to afford clothing, and food, and end up starving on the streets. To Mr. Cain, NO-NO-NO.

Here is a page that explains why the average person cannot afford to vote for Cain -

reality check

I hear and see a lot about "all should pay", and the like, but there isn't a lot of actual understanding of people that are NOT rich in those comments. "Fair" doesn't necessarily mean the same amount. Or even the same percentage. Someone making under 10K a year, barely living, no computer or internet, no cable/satellite, no car, can't afford to pay ANYTHING out in taxes. Yes, there ARE people like that. I KNOW some. Barely living at all. How can such a person pay out 9% of their income? Or add an additional 9% sales tax, on top of the state and local, to everything they buy, which is ALL needed to live? Plain and simple truth is, they can't. That isn't "hating" people that are wealthy; it's simply looking at reality. How about a family with an income under 40K, several kids? Not getting welfare or anything, and struggling to pay the bills, the mortgage, and buy food and needed things? How can they afford to lose deductions for their children? How can they afford the higher sales tax? They can't. My family can't afford it. I have run the figures; we would go broke. Worse broke, maybe I should say.

Of course, this idea that some "pay nothing" is utter BS, to begin with. Most people already pay sales tax, for one. There are taxes on our homes. Taxes on our vehicles, and the tags. Any working person pays social security, and no sane person thinks they will actually get anything from that, at the rate things are going. Not to mention, when my husband has served for his adult life in the military, overseas many times, I don't think claiming we have "no skin in the game" because we pay very little in actual income tax, is a fair statement.

Under Cain, I would have a 17.75% sales tax here in NY.
Yes Mr. Cain, low taxes, small gov't, personal responsibility - sure, fine, whatever.....

Herman Cain: gov't by Big Oil companies, of the Health Insurance companies, and for the International Bankers - and if you don't like it then YOU'RE A SOCIALIST!

Interesting how there are two decent and honest Republican candidates - Ron Paul and Buddy Roemer - and the GOP is scared to death of both of them!

The Herman Cain 9 - 9 - 9 plan is fair and easy to understand.

It also gets rid of the mess we have now.

Since it is easy to understand, the American people can hold the politicians accountable.
