ATS Points

Is there anyway to quickly make 1500 ATS Points? I recently, about 2 weeks ago made a derogatory remark to a fellow poster, who was talking down to others on the board. I was messaged by a Forum Mod. and as a warning they deducted points, and now I'm in the red... I guess it's not a big deal, but what can I do to get some points fast?

I think we can be awarded points for being exceptionally good at giving rational debate and steering threads away from insanity, but that's awarded by the mods, so get out there and be better than just posting silly stuff.

Make a quality thread or 3.

The easiest way to fast points is to make very lucid and intelligent posts that add value to a thread, thus attracting the attention of a mod who might award you 250-500 points for such a post.

However.....

Point sused to be worth something. They could be used to "buy stuff" such as background colors on your avatar or access to super secret boards. They were a sort of negotiable currency, kind of. Today points have a vague and unknown influennce on either your Karma score, along with flags and stars, but no one really knows how much of an influence that is, and the K score doesn't really buy you much except maybe that you continue to show up here and post a lot.

My opinion is that the scoring system, in all its aspects, is verging on unworkable here, and that there will probably be a revision of it sometime in the future. Won't be the first time.

In a way,it does buy you respect and trust.
But,then again ,if you post a fact in a theoretical thread,it gets ignored,cause that is not what they want to hear.

Ultimately points mean nothing, except if you use them to gauge your usefulness to the community here at ATS. Other than that, they are forum status symbols I suppose. You cannot buy anything with them as far as I know, and theres no prize for having the most points.

What do you care how many points you have ?

I always was brief and to the point and so many of my replies are one sentance but never as worthless as Hear hear, or me to, or atta boy etc.

I'm in the negative points myself and never received a warning.
