Yes it is the moon.

No eclipse. The sun is to the left, the left side of the moon is being lit by the sun. Everything normal.

I think it's called sunset. You could have seen the same anywhere else on Earth. The Moon is currently a waxing crescent so sets a little after the sun and can be seen just before sunset.

(they do have sunset in Antarctica, btw )

You know pretty amazing now how i can watch the moon,, while,sitting on my front deck,, glide east to west in the middle of the afternoon. As plain as day you can see the craters,,and my eyes are bad,, lol,, warm breeze off the Atlantic,, wild roses and peonies now in bloom,,and that shadow is now on the other side, truly chasing the sun. the moon i mean.
I thought " never thought id sit in Cape Breton, and watch the moon go by in the middle of the day, in July, in the afternoon.
