Was it Murder? Officers Exonerated

I'm not one to pass judgment, but this story was fishy from the get go. I would like to bring this to the attention of ATS. This sort of thing is happening much to often. Something needs to be done. The police watch us, but who is watching the police?
I know not all are tigger happy militant gun totin' troublemakers, but one bad apple can spoil the bunch in this case.

On Feb 2/2011 19 year old Andreas was gunned down by local police who were responding to a non emergency noise disturbance called in by another tenant living in the building. Officers arrived and in five seconds, Andreas was shot twice. The first shot was non fatal and hit him in the arm, and a second fatal shot was discharged to the abdomen, fatally wounding the young man.
As he lay in his own pool of blood the three responding police officers cuffed him and did not administer any first aid until a Sergeant arrived two minutes later and ordered the officers to uncuff Andreas so CPR could be administered. Andreas layed there choking to death in his own blood. He died on his way to the hospital.

Below is the most recent follow up. The SIU has completed their investigation and have cleared all three officers of any criminal charges. Even though all three officers shared the same lawyer and did not end up writing their reports until AFTER speaking with the lawyer. Robert Chinnery, Andreas' father, has been ruthlessly trying to find answers to what had happened. Since this started him and the remaining family have constantly been harassed and under the watch of police.



The intention of the thread is not to bash police officers, but to bring awareness to a cold blooded murder of a young man. Thank you all for your attention.

This is mostly likely a grudge or a hit by the Police on someone they just didn't like. Its as easy as that folks when you mess with a Police officer he know has the right to murder you.

They are criminal Gestapo Police and we need to usurp them from their power structure.

Police in Canada just like the United States are nothing more than criminals in Uniform.

The SIU is a provincial agency that probes all serious incidents involving police, including shootings, injury or sexual assault allegations. Six SIU investigators and three forensics specialists have been assigned to the case.

I happen to know about the SIU and the agency is made up of retired and former police officers so much for un-biased investigations.

This is the SIU's propaganda website and they are a fraud. I read in the Newspaper (I Live in Niagara) That only 1 officer has ever been charged for a serious charge by the SIU unit since its existence in all of Ontario(13 million People) This is a total Outrage

See they lie the SIU is made up of former/retired Police officers mostly it is a blatant lie right on their site this isn't an independent investigation its a biased investigation.

This is true. The SIU was supposed to be civilian ran, but it was easy for lawyers, ex military and police to flex their power and take control of the operations.

Apparently Adreas had a run in with the police just a few months earlier where he was beat up by officers that left him with black eyes and a broken tooth.

Oh Canada...

They claim that if you get into a fight with someone who who is using there fists and you pull out a knife you escalated the fight and become more of the attacker, its odd how having a bat vs gun seem to be equivalent.

I have no Doubt in my mind. The Criminal Thug Police(Gestapo) are using their 100K+ a year salary(3x more than average Canadian Makes) to bribe the SIU Investigators as well. They can afford to and well you know the SIU Are really just former Police mostly. So they are already friends with them to begin with.

Its essentially the same as paying for murder or hits.

We all saw the abuse of power at the G-20 in Toronto. Last week we were told of the shooting of a mentally ill man in downtown Montreal who was slitting open garbage bags. That father of four was shot along with a passerby hospital worker on his way to work. People were and are still outraged at the excess of force and demonstrated in a protest march to show their outrage. And in that case, the police were not even called in for questioning until a few days had passed. Another case of cops investigating cops.

This is the beginning of summer and it does not bode well for us all if the recent past is any indication. SIU's no longer have my trust, for just as you point out, OP, their ranks appear to be stacked and biased. Remember that if it had not been for some fellow with a video camera inside the Vancouver airport, the cops would have gotten away with Robert Djankanski's death. As it was, there was only a charge of perjury brought out of an inquiry, if my memory serves me right. There simply HAS TO BE more civilian oversight in these matters. Common sense, where is it?

And now we will all be treated to Harper's law- 'n -order government. Whoopdee doo. We must be watchful to make sure fairness is not completely thrown out the window. My late spouse was a cop and I know they are not all bad. However, their teams and team leaders all need retraining in using more common sense to diffuse a situation, IMO. For a while they had an interventionist along on such calls. Was that program cut?

My heart goes out to the families of all such victims. RIP.

The question is, what do we do about it? How do we go about it?
The people with the guns and badges have managed to build up a wall of "Us vs. Them"
They own the politicians, the lawyers, the judges...
how do we serve our justice without it being labeled vigilante?

Apparently one of the officers involved "blacked out" during the whole altercation.
