German beansprouts to blame for deadly E.coli outbreak

Tests pointed to beansprouts grown at a farm in the greater Uelzen area between Hamburg and Hanover being responsible for the health crisis that has now killed 22 and left another 2,153 people ill across Europe.

Eleven people in Britain were among those taken ill with food poisoning apparently linked to the bug. People in northern Germany were last night warned to stop eating the beansprouts, which are often used in salads.

First cucumbers, then tomatoes, lettuce now bean sprouts makes me wonder if they actually know whats causing it. theres an interesting link on the news page about the bean-sprout e coli cause worth checking out. Even thought they say beansprouts are the cause it seems they are not lifting the ban on tomatoes, cucumbers or lettuce just yet
