And they really are full of themselves.

Lobbying Group For Lobbyists Demands Obama Drop Executive Order On Contracting Donations

What Obama wants to do (which as a surprise, seems good)

On Wednesday, President Barack Obama experienced one of those occasions. The Obama administration received a stern letter from the American League of Lobbyists firmly warning it to dispose of a draft executive order that would force federal contractors disclose their donations.

So then, you could know who the big corporations fund and which politicians they own.

Then look at what total crap the lobbyists are saying :

"Since your announcement to seek the Presidency you have consistently attacked the honorable profession of lobbying," the letter, signed by the group's president Howard Marlowe, read. "Lobbyists play an important role in the legislative process, serving as educators to elected officials. It is in the best interest to government to have informed individuals who serve as experts in every arena of public policy. Our ability to access and navigate the legislative process and push issues forward through a bureaucratic cluster is a vital service to the nation. The Draft Order would inhibit one of the most vital tools in the advocate's arsenal by creating fear of retribution for political donations."

Lobbyists a honorable profession? Mwaahahahahaha. Try saying that without laughing.

Lobbyists are BRIBING politicians. If corporations can bribe politicians legally to get them to do what they want, people should be able to bribe judges and cops to get them to do what they want.

Lobbyists, giving people with money a much greater voice than people with no money... In brutal dictatorships, the ``government`` gets bribed by fears, fear of assassination, fear or prison, in ``democracies``, they get bribed with money.

Most of the time, the lobbyists employers WRITE THE BILLS and give them directly to congressman/women. The congress never even READ them...

Whoever got the most money/guns gets to dictate policy. How history repeats itself...

A true government for the people by the people means that representatives votes for the benefit of the majority of his constituency... not for whoever gave him the most money.

They wanted to open up the donations lists from politicians and their parties here in The Netherlands too.

Still not happened, imagine more people knowing the truth about how politics really work.

Edit to add, this news doesn't really surprise me, since it's cheaper and more powerful to combine their efforts into a single organisation, they should have called it, lobbyists protecting other lobbyists....

Well, of course the lobbyists have their own lobbying group.
How else were corporate lobbyists supposed to gain so damn much influence in policy making.

"For the people", my ass.

Vitchilo, while I share your disgust with the lobbyists running this country upside down, they are doing what they have a right to do. They are petitioning government, they have those rights protected as american citizens, as disgusted I am with the reality of our politicians being bought off, it's their right. That, along with the supreme court ruling allowing corporations to be treated like american citizens (even though corporations do not consist exclusively of American citizens), they have every right to "bribe" the government. You won't get a wink from the Republicans let alone many of the Democrats. Sad reality.
