Maybe today those of us who are Pledge Keepers, those words should read as; "I Pledge Allegiance to the flag of the United States of America and to the Republic for which it stood..."



Seems more and more so each generation failed the one after it, by not preserving the message of those before us. Perhaps it is a collective failure upon us all as a people and nation. Our ignorant masses today see not the turmoil they swim and know not the founding fathers fought against the same corruption as we see so rampant today.

Instead of boring every one with a history lesson they ought to know, remember this;

Prudence, indeed, will dictate that Governments long established should not be changed for light and transient causes; and accordingly all experience hath shewn, that mankind are more disposed to suffer, while evils are sufferable, than to right themselves by abolishing the forms to which they are accustomed. what i think is the reason previous generations have failed

is because they are no longer saying it the do not comprehend those simple words

the simple message

the last thing people want to know in this country is that we are a republic

and not a democracy because if the actually understood that key word republic

they could never get away with the perpetual bs that is being shoved down

our throats on a daily basis and by our so called democratically elected leaders.

Once upon a time, on ATS there was a more unified idea of where we were headed as a collective.

Now it seems the general consensus nationally is that intentional polarization is used to divide and conquer, yet even that idea is not recognized by the generations too young to know better. That is where the self motivated, lead by example do it right the first time no none sense, stand up to the ignorant bully types are needed.

Because with out that sheepdog protecting the sheep from the wolves, the sheep would be done for, and they know it. Don't let the false ego of mobs, sway your confidence, you know the right from the wrong. And false comfort won't protect you any more than the blankets would if there was a real boogie man...

Many states alone are self sustainable and resourceful. As I recall Jefferson stated that we ought to be our own country out here. Prepare for it...United Statesians...


To make sense of things....I would compare it to like when you have a computer full of spyware, malware and viruses...and the registry is all jacked up. Sometimes it's not even worth trying to fix it all..sometimes it's just best to reformat it and/or reinstall.

The pledge was created by an avowed socialist in an attempt to drum up support for federal bureaucracies.

I pledge allegiance to free markets, voluntary contracts, and private property rights.

The State is a gang of criminal looting thieves that has killed more American's than any foreign power ever could.

We may have been flagged and categorized for quoting these very dangerous sheets of paper.
All the more reason to quote it.
I, too, believe that is our duty and obligation to remove such corruption from Government.
How we do that, I don't care one iota, be it violence or hugs.

How ever above other options we should keep in mind the first preference, of peaceful assembly.

If they take away our right to address grievances by pen or peaceful assembly, then we are left with the sword.

If it comes to that, then I can rest assured others will remember the Alamo, only different times and circumstances.

I don't agree necessarily, but I believe Thomas Paine felt the same way at one point.

until an independence is declared, the Continent will feel itself like a man who continues putting off some unpleasant business from day to day, yet knows it must be done, hates to set about it, wishes it over, and is continually haunted with the thoughts of its necessity.

His words sound as if they reflect the state of affairs today, insofar as peoples general displeasure with our "leaders." But to address the OP I think much of that displeasure is caused by our own apathy in regards to being proactive in our own government.

We fail ourselves most of the time because many just don't want to do anything that would get in the way of less important interests. Say for instance, you really want to play that new video game because it's really fun. You may know a particular bill or law is being voted on that you disagree with, most of the time that person isn't going to put down the controller to go and vote or have their voice heard. Even if they really don't believe in the law, and know it may effect them at some point. The video game has more appeal.

Mind you, video games are just an example.

What do you help to get from this discussion ?
Not even the Founding Fathers could change human nature this is why the Republican model of government is flawed . You can see this in the very existence of political party's something Hamilton was none to fond of at all . I could go on but I don't see where this conversation is going entirely .

Its sad that the generations of today have been molded into believing that our current way of society and governance is correct, and that so many have been frightened into submission. But sadly, I don't believe that we as a people can change the path that we are on without some kind of massive implosion or calamity. The system is to perfect and entrenched in the world we live in today.

I would love to see a complete renovation of our society.
