Noticed these a long time ago on Ascension Island. I've always wondered what these are. I'm sure one of you will know know. You can see them for yourself on google earth. Interested to know your thoughts. I have put this thread in Area 51 and other Facilities. My last thread was moved with no explanation.

Thanks for all the information you share.

At first glance, they almost look like farming turrets, which are common all over the world, but Im not 100% on these.

I'll take a closer look and get back

ETA: Nevermind, cannot investigate further until OP provides coordinates.

I'd venture that they are antenna installations.

A set of towers can be seen nearby.
7°57'4.36"S 14°23'6.10"W

Actually, there are antennas all over the island

Thanks for the responses. It isn't a big island. These aren't difficult to find. It looks like a white van is parked in each corner of the black squares.

I'm sure there is a rational explanation.

The island is the location of Wideawake Airfield, which is a joint facility of the United States Air Force and the Royal Air Force, a European Space Agency rocket tracking station, and the BBC World Service Atlantic Relay Station. The island was used extensively by the British military during the Falklands War. Ascension Island hosts one of five ground antennas (others are on Kwajalein Island, Diego Garcia, Colorado Springs and Hawaii) that assist in the operation of the Global Positioning System (GPS) navigational system.

Quite a bit of stuff on Ascension. It was pivotal in the Falklands War and retains it's strategic importance with tracking stations and Air bases.

I would hazard they are related to one of these actvities.

cant be too much , there is another large one to the NW of these - right next to the public golf course
I'd say belonging to RAF - (town to the south is for personnel)
It is a volcanic island - scientific research
NASA used the island

it is possible they could be using the island for studying the south atlantic anomaly. truth1000 created a thread on this topic and it could be quite relevant as the shttle has launched and carries a particle detector which could be utilised in this area.

I've been lucky enought to spend 2 tours down on Ascension 1991/92 and again 95/96. To the south you have Travlers hill which accomodates RAF personell and to the east you have 2 boats village (civilian homes).

The area you show was where they had test pools for hydoponics, now I remember them being larger than whats there now but this may just be smaller and more advanced pools that have since dried and been abandoned.

The Island is covered in little installations RAF, USAF, NASA (pulled out in the 80s I think), Arian, cable and wireless and the BBC has a massive world service antenna there at English bay.

I love this place and would love to go back on holiday one day but somehow 2 weeks just doesn't beat 2 six month tours.

Hope this helps a little even if it's not rock solid on what the objects are.

Thanks. There are no pictures of these structures. I suppose it will be left unexplained...
