At his rape trial, New York City officer says he's a gentleman

news.yahoo.com

"I don't kiss and tell. I have a reputation of not saying (anything)," Kenneth Moreno said when asked by prosecutors why he did not immediately tell his partner, Franklin Mata, about a conversation with the victim that he later found was secretly taped.

In that conversation, played repeatedly in the trial at state Supreme Court in Manhattan, Moreno acknowledges having worn a condom but insists several times that nothing occurred between the 29-year-old woman and him.

I don't even know where to begin with all that's wrong with this... but let me try...

Prosecutors say Moreno and Mata responded to a 911 call from a cab driver who said his fare was too drunk to get out of his taxi, and the pair escorted the woman to her apartment.

The two officers left but returned a few hours later in response to another 911 call, which Moreno has admitted he faked, and then returned twice after that.

So this officer contrives to go back to her place, claiming he was worried about her health and safety... then climbs into bed with her... just to, you know... check her pulse... you always wear a condom while doing that right???
and while his partner is in the bedroom, checking on this drunk lady... he's asleep on her sofa.... now that's how to protect and serve!

Unless the jury is fixed...these guys are doing time....it makes me wonder...now many other Police Officers have done this sort of thing have gotten and still are getting away with it!

NYC is rampant with cases similar to this one.

since this is a major story here in NYC, I've been following it and, while I think the cops should both be locked up, I'm not so sure that this is a cut and dry case.

There are a ton of things that have been written that make me think that the jury might not be so quick to come up with a guilty charge.

The cop's response to the condom question was somewhat vague and he never admitted on tape to any impropriety. The woman also seemed to have some questionable actions in the days following the alleged rape.

As I said, I think these guys should go to jail for a long time so please don't think I'm siding with them. Merely pointing out that there's a whole lot more to this story that makes the case harder to call.

Questionable actions on her part???
so what... can any of us claim to be saints???

what is truly questionable is the actions of these officers.
faking a 911 call just to go back... one of the officers getting into bed with a woman who's so drunk the cab driver had to call for help....

Damn lawyers spend their carriers learning how to twist facts and find loopholes... but the fact remains these two "Self proclaimed Gentlemen" took advantage of a drunk woman....A stranger... one that needed help....surely not what these officers did...and that spells "Low Life Scum" in my book

as I said, I think the cops should rot in jail but there's much more coming out that can sway the jury. hopefully, that won't happen
