Cindy Sheehan's feelings toward Ron Paul?

The next thread I was supposed to do was my big boy thread. But I went to this event that I feel need to report on it.

So your American Philosopher went to the Socialist Northwest annual conference over the weekend. Even though I am not a socialist and consider myself a conservative libertarian. Ya know a couple of years ago when i was a lock step republican I would not have been caught dead in there. But now since I have been awakened, I guess you could say I just went to connect with other people and find out there view points.

So Cindy Sheehan was there and gave a speech and answered questions about the state of the Antiwar movement. I was gonna ask her where she thought the anti war movement would go now in the future now that these wars and conflicts have escalated. But she mentioned Ron Paul's name twice and not in a good way, at least in my opinion as how I took it. I wanted to then ask her about her comments on Ron Paul would she support Ron Paul in the presidential election since he is the only real contender so far that is carrying and anti war message. But I never got a chance to ask since there were so many questions being asked.

One of the diggs that I heard was "Everybody thinks that Ron Paul is the common man but he is really rich does anyone know that he owns silver mines."

The second one "President Obama has a cultist personality on facebook. As does Ron Paul"


Now lets discuss the second one I am not a facebook person so I don;t know what that means, I took it to mean it was not a compliment.

Now the first one She could have been playing to the crowd now that I think about it. Since these are socialist and they seem not to like the rich.

I don;t know I took it from my impression she did not really care for Ron Paul which is interesting since he has consistently had an anti war message.\


Also some interesting information she revealed in her speech. She said that in the 2006 election she was appoarched by Nancy Pelosi and other democrats to make a deal with them if she got them vote they would end the war. She obviously admitted that she got betrayed. The other thing was that she said that she has been losing support from people because of her stance on the Israeli-Gaza flotilla incident and the Libya conflict.

Well why not, Ron Paul knows the value of precious metals, I wouldn't be surprised if he owned gold mines. Just because someone is rich doesn't mean they are evil. Especially if he earned it. Ron Paul used to be a doctor, he delivered a lot of births from what I am told, and he is a congressman, so why not have a little money for his age and profession, shoot if he was 75 years old and completely broke then that would be a story.

Ron Paul believes in the value of silver and gold so him and his son have stocks in gold/silver and shares in mines

Smart man sees the dollar is going to bust like he predicted, but then again if he gets into power and does away with the FED will that not push the price of gold and siver up in times of uncertainty of a currency???

I'll give a LITTLE bit on this one...Ron Paul may have a cult following, but I'd like to think most are more like myself.

I definitely like Ron the man, but I have to be completely honest and say that if someone else came along with the same message, integrity, and record as Ron Paul has PLUS more confirmed likely chance of winning primaries and national elections, I would have to support that person. It's not the messenger that's important, it's the message (shades of Stigmata? 'Il messengaro es non importante').

As far as silver mines...given his reported net worth, I doubt it's likely that he owns them, but a LOT of people over at the DailyPaul.com have been investing in silver mining companies (SLV on NASDAQ or NYSE, I think?) and I would not be at all surprised if he's done the same. Regardless, that's just good business at this point.

I like what Cindy's been trying to do and I feel for her loss, but I'm afraid she might have gotten the wrong view of RP here.

A cultist personality means that many many people have an extreme devotion to paul and his ideals.

doesnt refer to the occult or anything, and its not necessarily a bad thing, but it sounds like this woman is a little looney

He says that because she used the death of her son as a way to get her face splashed in every medica outlet in the US and made a lot of money on it. While her son, whom she used as a soap box, went 2 years without a tombstone.

She then put one up "using her own money" while saying that the government should have paid for it. The fact is that the Department of Veteran Affairs does provide one if one is requested free of charge. On top of that the military provides a 250,000 dollar life insurance policy that apparently went towards her advancing tv time.

She is scum and just needs to go away.

Wasn't Obama supposed to bring the troops by now? He was anti-war but changed his mind when he took the oval office. The only problem that Ron Paul faces is that all his measures would be stalled in congress and the senate, and possibly even the Supreme court sense they all take corporate sponsors. He couldn't change the government that drastically on his own. I have my doubts that he will even be allowed to come close to being able to actually run for president. I doubt they will let him in the debates.

No they will let him in the debates. his supporters including me are to feverent and had this happen before. Ask Hannity when he got pelted by snowballs.

She is irrevelant these days. She had her political stunts, she had her fame and she got paid. Does she have a true anti war message? If she does it is tarnished with the crap she pulled a few years ago in her sons name and anybody who listens to her should have a tiny voice in the back of their minds questioning her motives.

My view is that anyone who protests the war should do what they can to stay away from her if they want to be taken seriously.

I do feel bad for her loss and for all families who lost their loved ones, I have lost many friends in this war, some of who I have personally tried to save on the battlefield. What she did in her sons name, to me, is unforgiveable and I will never forget how she used her own sons name to line her pockets.

Its no wonder her husband divorced her in 2005.

Not sure why anybody would care about Cindy Sheehan's feelings about Ron Paul.

Her son dying didn't make her an instant expert on everything.

Whether anyone likes her or not, I think she's important to the anti-war movement, and it would be best if he had her support. It would help pull liberals that are anti-war to his side.
