I was sitting on the couch when I noticed thunder off to the west. Craving a smoke anyways I went outside recorded a video of the storm arriving. I managed to catch a bolt of lightning so I thought that was cool, finished my smoke and went inside. This was two days ago, tonight I decided to watch it on the HD TV and analyze it some. Doing a frame by frame I noticed this one peculiar frame.

I am 98% sure its a phone error but I found it interesting enough to post. If anyone's interested in the videos , reply and let me know and ill post them too.

What exactly are you questioning about the frame? Awesome picture though. Is it the straight line from where the bolt appears to be coming from? Very weird.

What particular abnormality do you see in the image?
I see a horizontal bar quarter way from the top where the brightness has changed. That would be due to the way the camera doesnt take an instant shot of the whole frame, but scans from the top down, taking a small amount of time to do so. I suspect that in that time, the lightning bolt happened.
There was a thread on weird digital camera phenomenon in the last day or so. I'll see if I can find it.
Edit - found it...

Could it have possibly been caused by this?
The Rolling Shutter Effect

From the videos in that thread, the rolling shutter can cause a few different anomalies. So I am not saying this is definite, but may be a possibility.
