Okay, 2 quick points to clear up

Your individual vote doesn't mean a thing. It doesn't matter if Gore would have won 75% of the Florida votes. It all boils down to who the elected official wants to vote for, and I have a feeling that it would have been Bush. Yes, this would be a bad move if the person in question wanted to be re-elected in that state the following election, but in all honesty our vote is just a guide for someone else to follow. Whether or not that person follows our guide is totally up to them.

Secondly, would you really have wanted Al Gore to have been President for the past 4 years? Imagine post 9/11 with Gore at the helm, or perhaps the conflict in Iraq with Gore leading the way. That is the truly scary picture. At least G.W. can ask his dad for guidance, or he can ask his staff to write speeches for him (whether or not he can pronounce the words in that speech is irrelevant). Al Gore leading this country for the past 4 years would have been scary...

When it comes to Election 2004, I will be voting for the lesser idiot. In 2000, the lesser idiot was Bush. However, in 2004, I can tell you that I will not be voting for Kerry-Edwards. I was planning on voting for my dog, but she passed away a week ago Friday so that plan is out. It looks like I�ll be voting for...

Okay?...so am I assuming that everyone already knows this? I guess it's like the "voluntary" paying of taxes. It's just something that people accept...

In "theory" the population votes for who they want. Based on the percent of votes for whomever, they get that percent of the vote from the Electoral College. The Electoral College is the ones who actually vote for the president. Every vote counts because it could mean the difference between who you want getting the single winning electoral vote.

uhhh petey_pongo23 thats incorrect, Whichever party slate recieves the majority of the popular vote recieves all of the electoral votes for that state, ( well actually they get to become that states electors which amounts to the same thing) execpt in Maine and Nebraska where there is a dfferent rule in place. So while its true that as a voter you are not voting directly for the presdent your vote does matter and had gore recieved the majority of the votes in florida he would have won.
