I'm sorry but I had to post this video b/c its a really amazing sight.

I was hoping that this was a security camera operated from w/in one of the trailers. I really would have liked to see the inside of this massive storm.

That is really cool. I saw one of those back in '96 when I was in Saudi. Stunning and scary!

And no, you don't want to be in one. Even inside of a building, the air gets thick and dusty, and depending on how strong the sand storm is, the sounds can be nerve-wracking as well.

Thanks for the trip down memory lane, S&F for that.

There is nothing bizarre or unusual about this sandstorm.
Although, they are indeed awesome to behold. My stepfather is a Syrian-Lebanese who used to live in Syria (forget which city) about 20 some odd years ago. He loves showing people videos and pictures of these. He used to own a produce market there, hated when the storms came, would ruin half his product.

I agree,
there is nothing unusual about this footage, however that is still a slended site to see and yet another awesome display of mother nature and what she can do.
It must have been an ominous sight for your father as he watched sites like that approach.

And to OP, thanks for post. s&f
Cheers

It's bizarre if it's the first one you've ever seen I guess!

I know I thought they were insane when I first saw one.

Gotta agree, I can only imagine what it must be like to see a friggen wall of sand tall as a skyscraper come rushing at you from horizon to horizon. It's an amazing thing to behold, though according to my stepfather, leaves a helluva mess.
