US Naval Update: CVN 65 Enterprise Abandons Libya, Reinforces CVN 70 Vinson In Straits Of Hormuz

Wonder why the administration made such a stink of reducing the US airborne presence around Libya, and handing it off to France, Italy, Canada and Turkey? Here's the answer: the CVN65 Enterprise which last week was within striking distance of Libya, has quietly left the Red Sea and is now virtually swimming in the wake of CVN 70 Vinson in the Strait of Hormuz.

WOAH - why abandon operations in Libya in head back for the Gulf, why does the states need two full carrier groups? Is something happening behind the scenes?

There is already a carrier group watching Iran, why do they suddenly need two? Are things about to get dicey in the middle east?

Let me guess we will ramp up the protests in Iran (yes the CIA is coordinating those protests) so that we can intervene, great reason would be the opportunity to not only take out a dictator to ‘protect the people’ but also to end the ‘nuclear weapons program’. Let me guess what happens after the –possible- attack on Iran, Israel will begin an air assault on Gaza which will prompt Hezbollah to launch rockets into Israel where they will be able to justifiably retaliate then take out Syria with the backing of the West since the US will be dealing with Iran.

Why would the US want to bring two carriers into the Gulf? Well don’t you know Bahrain is a Shiite majority nation under a Sunni King? Guess who happens to be Shiite… Iran. Guess who happens to be Sunni… Saudi Arabia.

Anyone think these revolutions were not planned now or are you still holding on to false statements?

They cannot let the Shiites win Bahrain which will throw out the US naval fleet from their base there and Bahrain will then become a puppet nation of Iran. Bahrain also has guess what… the port which exports oil from Saudi Arabia. Imagine that…

Its not in the Strait of Hormuz.

Check out the map from STRATFOR referenced in the article. Its headed to the Arabian Sea south of Pakistan.
www.zerohedge.com...

The Carl Vinson is also in the Arabian Sea south of Pakistan.

The Enterprise is relieving the Carl Vinson. Thats the current mission. Libya had diverted it from its original mission.

The aircraft carrier USS Enterprise and its escort vessels were on their way south through the Suez Canal and the Red Sea to relieve the USS Carl Vinson on station in the Gulf of Aden when they were ordered back to the Mediterranean close to the Libyan coast.

www.upi.com...

As soon as the Enterprise takes over the Carl Vinson's mission, expect CVN 70 Carl Vinson to head towards Libya.

My thread right here should tell you all you need to know about ship movements in the Middle East. But tosummarize

1. The US Navy has gone to a "1.7" presence in the Arabian Gulf. That means there will be two carrier strike groups at any one time in the Gulf nine months out of the year. The Enterprise HAS been in the Red Sea these last few weeks, but calling this "within striking distance" is a bit of a stretch. Look at a map. The Enterprise did not "abandon Libya." It was never really there.

2., The US could have had another carrier in the Med easily as far back as three weeks ago. The GHW Bush is ready to go and has been ready to go. Ask the administration why it is not already on station. BTW, the Carles DeGaulle is there. What could possibly go wrong?

3. The Kearsarge Amphibious Ready Group IS on station in the Med, minus about 1,000 Marines it loaned to Afghanistan.

4. The USS Bataan, anothwer Amphibious Ready Group, is just headed over to the Med, probably just to relieve the Kearsarge. It's also been ready to go for some time.

So the bottom line is this. The US Navy has intentionally kept a low profile of ships in the Med during this Libyan "Kinetic Event." The US Navy was quitr capable of sending in double the firepower, had they been instructed to--even just to keep our options open.

There's no mystery here.
