Tony Blair played a key role in stopping President George W Bush from ordering military action against Iraq immediately after the September 11 attacks, and convincing him to take a longer diplomatic road to war, British sources disclosed yesterday.

I dont know how reliable this source is, but apparently he has been wanting to attack Iraq since 9/11, but they decided to focus on Afghanistan.

He's been wanting to attack Iraq since *before* 9/11. A policy document advocating an attack on Iraq was dated 10th September if I remember correctly.

Also Rumsfield has advocated this for a long time, and so has Richard Perle. This war has been planned for a long time.

The only thing 9/11 did, was to provide a good excuse, and to give a louder voice to these right wing elements of the administration...

The dangers Hussein has posed has not been invisible to all, I'd like to hope that they have known for a while. As a matter of fact, do you remember a few years agon during the previous administration when the same ones in the democratic side oposed to this war were singing the Hussein Blues as the previous president wasted Tomahawks?

Hussein hasn't been a mystery, the passenger plane in the desert used to train terrorists, and his other links to terrorism weren't only discovered the days after 9-11.

therefore giving them what they consider 'justification' for the war that he's been wanting since his arrival in office, that is, if you can consider his election legal or not. The media has done a nice job of spinning it around to make it sound like Saddam did it. Gotta give credit where credit is due.

ohh gee, and lookie here, looks like the gov just happen to miss Afghanistan in their budget this year, because you know, they needed to be 'liberated' as well.
