I believe it is called The illuminati Trading card game...I seem to remember it from soon after MagicTheGathering but before Poleman

Interesting side note...A game called Vampire The Jihad was pulled from shelves around the same time and renamed Vampire The Masquerade do to pressure from Religeous groups
