Another version of Cinderella tells how Cinders and her prince force the step mother to dance for them at the wedding feast in metal shoes heated in a furnace until she drops dead.

Fairytales were so blunt then- they have completly changed- for the better in a way( for kids)!

The one who said the thing about the London Plague is wrong. That song dates back to the Black Death that killed 1/3 of the population in Europe.

Nursery rhymes and fairy tales depict the culture, lifestyle of the society, etx. of the times. Upon doing research on the Great Influenza epidemic of 1918-1919 (the Spanish Flu), I found that more people died in one year compaired to the Black Plague of Europe which took four years for same ratio of deaths. The children during the Spanish flu in America jumped rope and sang a song..."I had a little bird....And Enza was it's name....I opened up the window...And In-flu-Enza!). Very frightful, but interesting.
