US starts evacuating some Americans out of Japan

WASHINGTON – The Obama administration has authorized the first evacuations of Americans out of Japan, and said it will charter aircraft to help U.S. citizens wishing to escape elevated radiation levels in the country.

The State Department late Wednesday issued a warning to Americans to avoid travel to Japan and said U.S. citizens in the country should consider leaving. Its authorized departure offers a voluntary evacuation to family members and dependents of U.S. personnel in Tokyo and Yokohama and affects some 600 people.

WASHINGTON – The White House says that unlike some other countries the U.S. is not recommending that American citizens leave Tokyo over radiation concerns.

Press secretary Jay Carney said Tuesday that U.S. officials have determined that Americans in Japan should follow the same guidance the Japanese government is giving to its citizens.

The Japanese government has warned people within 20 miles of the nuclear reactor complex damaged in the earthquake and tsunami to stay indoors to avoid exposure.

Does this mean everyone should leave , or is meant to instill panic to accomplish some other agenda?

I watched that press conference live today and there was something that they werent saying, the press was basically putting pressure on the guy and all he kept saying was, "We have to make sure the American Citizens are ok", and would NOT elaborate on how they found what they did. They meaning the U.S.A., the press even went as far as saying that either we know more about what is happening or that Japan is purposely dumbing it down and all he said was "We have to make sure the American Citizens are ok" he was all nervous and jittery with the 3rd degree the press gave him.

That freaked me out and Im wondering if there is A LOT more that the government knows and is not telling.

Some guy on CNN seems to be saying that the risk to Tokyo is still low. I don't think Anderson Cooper was buying it.

Somebody knows something we don't know.

Why are all these governments acting so weird?
