Linda Rondstadt booted from Aladdin over F911

Linda Rondstadt was booed, jeered, and eventually thrown out of the Aladdin casino in Las Vegas after dedicating a song to Michael Moore. At 58. she obviously still hasn't learned to keep her political views seperate from her waning entertainment career.

Before her concert, Ronstadt had laughingly told the Las Vegas Review-Journal that she hoped that the casino performance would be her last.

"I keep hoping that if I'm annoying enough to them, they won't hire me back," she was quoted as telling the newspaper.

Looks like she got her wish. She didn't even get the chance to pack her own bags.

I agree with your assessment that this was a bad situation, not giving Ms Ronstadt the right to express her opinion in an environment conducive to decorum and free speech. There must have been a lot of ignorant people in situ.

She wasn't being paid to express her opinion. She was being paid to provide entertainment to the Aladdin crowd. From what I hear, it was a piss-poor performance at that.

Guests tore down posters, threw drinks, and walked out in disgust. That alone tells you the mood of the many of the people irt her statements.

This is not a free speech issue. She is free to say whatever she wants, on her own dime, not when she's on Aladdin's clock.

It's not about free speech. Linda was being paid to sing, not talk. We don't like it when them dayum pretty girls think they can start tawkin and havin' opinions and things. We just said, ok, Linda, you need to stop watching that biased CNN, and start watching FNC, because they report and you decide.

Vegas usually is the final destination for many washed up entertainers. I agree that she shouldn't have said anything while she was being paid to perform, if that's what you call it.

Obviously people who paid to see her, people that like her music were upset with the comment. It is definitley not a free speech issue when you are getting paid to sing or lip sync, or whatever it is that she is doing these days.
