MARCH 9--In an aggressive bid to entice prospective “sex tourists,” the Department of Homeland Security last year launched an undercover web site that purported to arrange trips from the U.S. to Canada, where clients could engage in sexual activity with minors, The Smoking Gun has learned.

Heh, well this appears to be a first for the department of Gestapo security.

In a sort of ironic turn of events, the DHS's pedophile-trapping "sting-op" web-site has been shut down by the networking host they were operating it on.

Recently, DHS has been seizing tons of bit torrent and other sites and closing them down, as we have seen reported in several stories. Now it appears that one of their own undercover sites have been closed down.

While I definitely think the taking down of child sex predators is a must, I do kind of think that some of the things going on here (like using trolls to pimp their chestor site and posting naked pics of little girls on it) are particularly creepy. But I guess that is how they "bait" potential offenders?

Because if they used a US destination it would qualify as "entrapment" ... and if they used Massachusetts it would be "fraud".... I shouldn't have to tell you this... you know how dedicated these people are to upholding the law.....

Besides... we have to give the new law enforcement pretty boys at the Interpol something to do, now that they have jurisdictional immunity to operate in our countries....

That's awesome, I wonder what happens when all the neo-law enforcers keep finding each other turning up in their investigations?

I don't think that the actual website existing qualifies as entrapment; but having someone out pimping said website may be.

I thought that entrapment's fundamental principle is that the person they are trying to catch has to intiate the activity first...even Dateline followed that principle with To Catch a Predator stuff.

Hey couldn't this be used against someone who was not involved in child porn, that you wanted. By sending them a porn image, it would be stored on their hard drive for later retrieval and prosecution, wanted or unwanted. I've heard of a lot of guys, who were whistleblowers that got in trouble fo images. (I can't remember who....- what about Assange?)

Sure, why not. You can also be infected with a virus, that downloads a bunch of stuff, and puts it in some obscure place in system files that people normally don't look. Personally I prefer to keep everything encrypted, with insane 50+ character passwords, including my OS. To anyone other than me my HD is useless, been doing that ever since some cocksmacker stole my external with all my movies and music on it

The only Thing I have to say about the the subject in this post is, entrapment And being set-up are two different things.If you are a criminal and you are busted because of entrapment, well then..... We really don't need criminals. If you are set up.... Than you must fight to prove you are innocent. Good luck with that!
