The network, on the basis of investigations by specialists, has blamed Libya's intelligence services for jamming its TV signals and blocking its websites. It has traced the source of the jamming to a Libyan intelligence technical administration building south of Tripoli, the capital.

I just saw this on Al Jazeera seems pretty obvious to me but in my opinion significant that they are jamming Al Jazeera english obviously noting the increasingly negative opinion of the regime.

Al Jazeera
I was also thinking of the possibility that it could also be others blocking the signal aswell.

Britain?

Why did the UK government on Monday cancel eight arms export licences for Libya? This comes after a warning from a legal adviser to the UN Commission on Human Rights who suggested that Britain may be found guilty of "complicity" for the killings of protesters by Muammar Gaddafi's regime. In the third quarter of 2010 alone, according to the Campaign Against Arms trade, the UK licensed over $6mn worth of ammunition to Libya, including sniper rifles and crowd control ammunition, which is suspected to have been used by the regime to suppress demonstrators.

Russia?

Russia might gain from chaos

Tatneft has joined Wintershall, Repsol, RWE and ENI in shutting down their production in Libya. But with the chaos escalating in North Africa, Russian oil and gas companies might yet benefit, if over the longer term, they are willing to shoulder the risk. That is the opinion of Dianne Sutherland, Chief Editor and Publisher of Petroleum Africa Magazine

Almost seems like a new great game with Britain and Russia involved but I'm sure other nations have intrests in the matter.

Wonder what ATS' thoughts on the matter are.

Many different companies were/are involved in selling arms to Libya. Some info from the LibDex show from Nov. 2010.

This happened last week.

Seems to be the standard MO during revolution or wartime. And actually has been for quite some time now, maybe even back to WW2, when they jammed everyone but Tokyo Rose.

Nowadays they have the internet and TV to jam too. Not as easy, but it doesn't mean they can't try.
