L.A. County Employee Dead in Cubicle a Day Before Being Noticed

DOWNEY (KTLA) -- An L.A. County employee apparently died while working in her cubicle on Friday, but no one noticed for quite some time.

51-year-old Rebecca Wells was found by a security guard on Saturday afternoon.

If you're working late or when not to many people are around, always make sure security or someone knows where you are an can check on you periodically.

In this case, it appears that she actually may have died during normal business hours and no one noticed.

So many of us work in an isolated, virtual vacuum, mainly interacting with the phone and computer and so few actual human beings, that this is not surprising. Still incredibly sad, though.

It's little stories like this that really move me.

Bless her! May her death awaken more people to be more loving and caring about each other!

Truly sad that she passed at work yet nobody noticed... Shows just how soulless and uncaring western "civilisation" has become.. People to absorbed in themselves and the pursuit of money / material goods that they lose compassion for their fellow human beings..

The saddest thing is that similar things happen every day with the elderly. We seem to be getting so isolated? Now apparently even when people are around.

Yeah the days when you could easily say hello to someone walking down the mall in a shopping centre is long gone...

This is so sad, if she felt ill before passing on she had no one to be with her.

Had noticed several years ago how the elderly are callously shoved aside or fobbed off to "homes" .. Rather than respected for the contributions that theyve made and the work of raising their families.. Seems that familial ties fell to the wayside in name of "progress" .. Sadly saw the same starting to occur in singapore my last visit there 5 years ago - people abandoning their elderly parents rather than caring for them at home as is traditionally done .. Wont even go to singapore these days too soulless and plastic like western countries..
Quite saddening that in pursuit of wealth and material things people lose their compassion for others..
