Okay, so first we had Anon and their amazing show of wrath, now the stories are starting to emerge of other international hackers.

Hacker admits to $10m cyber theft

Moscow - A Russian man has pleaded guilty in court to stealing $10m from former Royal Bank of Scotland division World Pay in 2008 by hacking into accounts, RIA News reported on Monday.

"I want to say that I repent and fully admit my guilt," Anikin in his final comments to the court in Novosibirsk in Siberia, where he was charged with theft.
Anikin, who was detained in 2009, bought two apartments in Novosibirsk as well as a luxury car.
Another member of the hacker ring was sentenced by a St Petersburg court to six years in prison in September 2010.

Latvian hacker exposes fat cats

Riga - For some residents of recession-hit Latvia, he's a Robin Hood, exposing fat cats: for others, he's a cyber-gadfly with little new to say. A mysterious hacker who claims to have swiped millions of records from the tax office, he calls himself Neo.

Neo has drip-fed the data into the public domain via the internet, publishing financial details on subsidiaries of the national energy company Latvenergo.

These documents show that the drastic spending cuts launched to deal with Latvia's severe recession have been far from even-handed, the hacker claims.

The hacker alleges that over the course of three months, his group took advantage of a security loophole to download more than 7.5 million documents from Latvia's revenue service.

With these and other stories it shouldn’t take long before the hackers and internet freedom debate flares up. And with that, the inevitable politician bandwagon will begin rolling.

Anon, hacker or just plain thief, the fine line existing between them will become much harder to distinguish.

This past weekend, Nasdaq revealed had been hit by cyber-vandals as well. The news, which came conveniently enough on a Saturday when the market maker is not active, reported that suspicious files were found on Nasdaq's site but no client information was compromised.

William Hague revealed on Friday that his own staff were hit in December by data-stealing viruses, as he called for agreement on "acceptable rules" for how countries behave in cyberspace.

Hacking can be a beautiful thing in the right hands. In the wrong, its a free ticiket to become a millionaire, such as said kid.

But, in the just hands, its a tool of revolution. The only revolution in history to consist of hacking is going on right now, and it will be looked back on as nothing short of legendary. Kids doing the revolution? a bunch of 16/17 year olds with minimum public education?

That's beyond amazing, and its beyond telling us something.

Parents, of the older generation, pick up some books and learn to hack and join in with your kids...they can't fight it alone.
