I was standing in line at my local grocery store, leafing through one of the magazines and I noticed a picture of a spiral petroglyph. And it struck me that there is a remarkable similarity to the December 9, 2009 Norway spiral. See what you think.

Another member on this forum has made a case that it was a missile.

Norway Spiral December 9, 2009

There was also a spiral event on Feburary 27, 2010

In 1977 Anna Sofaer discovered a petroglyph in the American Southwest that had a line going through the spiral created by solar alighnment with an opening in a cave.

Anna Sofaer found the now-famous "Sun Dagger" petroglyph site on a desert butte high above Chaco Culture National Historical Park at Summer Solstice in 1977, leading to 30 years research into the meaning of ancient Chaco's astonomical expressions. Chaco Astronomy brings together all the major findings of Solstice Project's many researchers, changing forever the understanding of a place often called "America's Stonehenge"
Nine revealing chapters explore the sophisticated lunar and solar alignments of major buildings, implications of the Great North Road, a remarkable digital reconstruction of the Sun Dagger site, and more. Richly illustrated with photos, charts, maps, and diagrams.

Sofaer and the highly qualified science team of the Solstice Project struggled to overcome resistance to their findings by an entrenched archaeological establishment. As deeper investigations provided more and more substance to her findings, Sofar now stands tall as one of the great pioneers of American archaeoastronomy.

In many of the spiral petroglyphs there appears to be a humanoid being with horns and big eyes associated with the spiral.

We also find this spiral on a norman church in Lewannick, Cornwall.

Some labyrinths are based on the coiled serpent like one in the Norman front in the parish church at Lewannick, Cornwall. The coiled serpent is apart ofthe ancient Mysteries. The spiral fashion is known to lead all things into One.

And then there is the Greek myth of the Labyrinth. And there is a a humanoid being in the center of the labyrinth that is the Minotauros - half bull and half man. Big eyes and horns.

Wouldn't "any" spiral resemble another spiral?

Not neccessarly

Some appear to go clockwise while others go counter-clockwise

It's still a spiral, though. Skew it, stretch it, reverse it.. Any one spiral resembles another spiral.

Interesting find, OP...it seems that the spiral as a symbol is a recurring one in various cultures and religious symbolism...

It seems even very early humans had some knowledge of the significance of the spiral, but I wonder what the original significance was, and the true meaning behind it, if any? That horned thing is creepy, by the way..

Yes, that's the point I was about to make.

Also, swastikas are commonly found in Indian and many Buddhist cultures. Does this mean that Hitler was a closet Buddhist?

Sometimes the superficiality of posts here leaves me speechless. UFO's look like flying saucers, that doesn't make them giant pieces of dinnerware.

Personally I think they are magnetic lines of force exciting noble gases in the upper atmosphere by solar wind from the sun, nothing exceptional but they are occurring more regularly and the populace have mobile phones now that can snap these when they happen.

What do you make of the locations of spiral petroglyphs?

I thought that upper atmospheric phenomenon only occured in the Artic and antartic regions.

Actually the Nazi and Vedic swastikas rotate in different directions.

One goes clockwise the other counter-clockwise.

The genesis of the swastika symbol is often treated in conjunction with cross symbols in general, such as the "sun wheel" of Bronze Age religion. Beyond its certain presence in the "proto-writing" symbol systems emerging in the Neolithic, nothing certain is known about the symbol's origin. There are nevertheless a number of speculative hypotheses.

The iconic picture of the "Norway Spiral" was taken with a fairly long exposure, which resulted in the spiral shape -- if you were to observe it with your eyes, you would see something very different, which is basically a stage of a rocket spinning around wildly spewing out fuel. If you leave the shutter of your camera open for a long time, you would take a picture that looks like a spiral.

There is no spoon. There is no spiral.
