Wassef Ali Hassoun's brother Sami said the family had received word that he had been released early on Tuesday.
He did not specify what the source of the information was, but said the family had "received a sign from my brother reassuring us".

This contradicts the militant website that, on Saturday, said they had killed Cpl Hassoun. It seems that for him to secure his release, he was
required to pledge to leave the Armed Forces and no longer help the 'American infidels'.
The terms of his release, as the militants were negotiating, was the full release of all Iraqi prisoners held by the coalition.
But Ansar al-Sunna denied making any statement to the effect that it had killed Cpl Hassoun.
"In order to maintain our credibility in all issues we declare that this statement that was attributed to us has no basis of truth," the message on
its website said.
