FREEZING Britain will be buried by the worst blizzards in 100 years today.

Drifts of up to 6ft are expected as 60mph Arctic gales batter the country.
Motorists and train commuters have been warned to expect chaos while thousands of schools will shut early.
Millions of Christmas cards and presents will not arrive.

Forecasters have warned that the storms, which will drop a foot of snow in hours, will be even more serious than the notorious 1962-63 winter and the worst to hit Britain since 1927.

I'm back on this subject because IMO something is really going on here, and it's looking more and more like the BP disaster is the cause. I'm not packing my bags and moving south quite just yet but further investigation is unquestionably warranted.

Dr Gianluigi Zangari PhD from the Frascati Institute is a Theoretical Physicist, who has worked for years with a collaborative network of scientists monitoring the Gulf of Mexico Loop Current and its contribution to the Thermohaline Current System that makes the Gulf Stream that becomes the North Atlantic Drift Current and subcurrents made some startling predictions back in July.

Zangari stated, what we're experiencing is not the butterfly effect, but the 'elephant effect'. With the amount of oil released, the natural system linked as the pacemaker to world climate for millions of years was now gone and replaced by an artificial system within the Gulf of Mexico as of late July, seven degrees Celsius above normals and a totally disconnected Loop Current from the Florida current that then becomes the Gulf Stream.

His conclusion was that 'glaciation' at an unknown pace was inevitable from this disaster.

If this is indeed true, you can't look past the irony that British Petroleum is the offending corporation who is the culprit for causing this.

So you're saying its's 50% Americas fault, as the ownership of BP is divided almost 50/50.

Does that mean you owe us an apology?

Absolute rubbish The uk has high pressure in the west blocking off low pressure systems which normally bring warmer south westerlies, and as a result the cold air from the north is allowed south over the uk.
Not unusual in winter.

The gulf stream is still going.

yea i think its just a normal storm thats been over-due. they say the last one close to this big was in the 20's. so what, something horrible caused that one too?

All this stuff saying this disaster is causing this and global warming that... its all BS.. the weather has always been changing ..up and down.. its normal. it will happen. i guess the next move is to blame it on HAARP.

No offence, but your source is the Daily Star

I'm not having a dig at you for posting, it's a scary read, but find a better source please

This is absolute nonsense, I've been working on top of a roof all morning in northern England. While i admit we had snow, we have NOT had any day after tomorrow style weather. This is just another ill- informed thread, designed for dramatic effect without much substance.

Stop getting into a lather about a slightly harsh start to winter. Perspective is needed.

Move on sheeple, nothing to see here.

From the Met Office:

Heavy Snow 0300 Sat 18 2100 Sat 18

A band of heavy snow will move northeastwards across England and Wales during Saturday. 5-10 cm of snow is expected widely, with the possibility of 20-25 cm accumulating in places, particularly across parts of the Midlands, Wales, and southern England.

This could cause widespread disruption to travel networks and sporting events.

This warning will be updated by midday Friday 17 December.

I don't believe it's the loop (or lack thereof) that is at fault, although it would be karma at its best! I think there are other more powerful forces at play, having to do with the sun. I will be following as this develops.

This is not a normal winter for the northern Hemisphere. In addition ladies and gentlemen, this may be a hard one to swallow... Its not even WINTER yet...

I am not being a wacknut, or crazy basement dweller with no life, I am just saying ahem so far this has been one of the coldest Autumn err Year I have ever lived thru in Southern America.

I must say The German winters in the Early 90's were bitter cold as well, but I am in very close to the equator and it is abnormal for temps to be in the 20's or even 10's Fahrenheit in the fall.
I dunno what it is that is making the weather so crazy. Its super hot in the summer these days and super cold in the winter. Lets not forget just a few years ago we had some catastrophic storm systems in the Atlantic and well I am not as educated in the Asia Pacific but I think they have had some crazy typhoons lately as well. I think its safe to say this is going to be a cold winter. Period.
