Speaking as somebody who is not a teenager, does not live in a basement, and has been around the proverbial block, so to speak...

I love America. I am proud to have been born here and to have lived the preponderance of my forty-four years of life, so far, here. I am proud that my children have been born here and will live their lives in the freedoms that the Constitution affords them. I would gladly give the whole of myself, and what I am, in defense of this country and its people. My body aches, every single day, with the pains gained from a life of working hard for myself and for this culture. So I feel I have a right to speak to this issue. And I will do so with a very brief statement.

I do not lament what America is. I lament what it is becoming. When our government begins to demonstrate that corporations, banks, and companies matter more than the people that those institutions serve... When my vote and my family matter less than anothers does simply because I am not rich enough to lobby Congress into serving my best interests... enough money to BUY justice... then, to quote the bard... Something is wrong in the state of Denmark.

Judging by your ATS information... Your member name and your location, I assume that you are a US Marine. I want to thank you for serving this nation. There are those who still hold such service in very high esteem and honor your sacrifices and commitment. But I would implore you to take a deep breathe and to remember a very simple fact...

These people that you've chosen to rant against are the very people you serve. And you give your lives work to protecting their freedom to complain. So celebrate that they have these rights, rather than being offended by it. It is a beautiful thing.

first of all most third world countries do not have militaries as they cannot afford them, second if they do have a military they dont spend there time and countries resources trying to install their morals and beliefs in the name of freedom on other country men and women, 3rd of all yes america was great before the bankers and corporations took over but, it is getting to look more and more like brazil and a third world status, so again was there a point to this thread

Firstly, I'd like to let you service men, and info fighters in the states you are appreciated very much. Amen! The United States has the most beautiful common grounds - The Constitution and the Declaration of Independence, but when the Bill of Rights gets diminished because PTB claim "National security" and strip our rights then it makes you question, are you an American or a human. I agree that America has a great standard of living and you are truely free if you get over your ignorance. I would say I am not free to stop paying the IRS taxes that go towards bombing innocents, bulldozing houses, 30,000,000$ cash to IsRaEl every year. Letting corportations go to Latin America and poor countries and exploting them for resources, leaving pollution and disregarding workers compensation surely has damaged our countries reputation yet again. I was going to say your wrong and state how we are one of the most stable countries right now. But the fact is i was illegally arressted in a place called Erie PA,thrown in jail. this happend multiple times,i did not break the law,or hurt anyone or myself,and later i found out it was illegal for them to arrest me for it,so i told them as they where arressting me and they still threw me in jail. Well,im not going to sue or take it to the news or anything,im content in the fact that all persons involved in me bieng jailed have a spot reserved in hell.

I have said it before, and I will say it again - the problems here in the U.S. have less to do with some evil-master-plan-of-world-domination, and more to do with the incompetence of the government bureaucracy combined with the complacency of the American people.

To claim that the government is not serving the will of the people is a bit of an oversight on the part of the ATS community. It is doing, almost exactly, what the American people have been asking of it these past 30+ years. At some point in American history, the trend began developing where people would rather be secure than free. To a degree - this is understandable. However, this also bred complacency and eventually led to an entitlement mentality.

With the demand for more security came the necessity for more government control of businesses. As lobbyists increased in Washington, the general public decided even more regulations needed to be placed on businesses to limit their influence on the legislative process.

The cruel irony of it all is that these regulations on businesses ultimately set the precedent for the government control of businesses - which gives businesses far more reason to lobby and allows larger businesses to influence the laws in their favor (and against smaller businesses).

Most of the problems we face today can be tracked back to this fundamental problem with our political and economic system.

People see the problems being caused by irresponsible business practices (encouraged, if not mandated by government programs and regulations) and demand the government do more to resolve it.

That's the biggest problem America has right now. The corporations are seen as the bad guy, the government is out of control, and the people have lost a sense of what the government is (and is not) supposed to do.

Not that any other country is any better. America is still the best country on the planet, and I'd certainly like to keep it that way. I'm not one of the types that run around spouting about "TPTB" or how we are all going to be in FEMA camps (whatever those are - they seem to be a convenient buzzword, much as I can gather).

And I can say that I was much like them at one point in time - back before I joined the military. My mind was filled with black helicopters and alien bases. Then I got in and realized that such a chaotic mess might be able to hide a few crashed UFOs if they were to be found - but that conspiracy stories are vastly over-rated and given far too liberal of a creative license.

I remember the day my bubble got burst on that one... they gave us a prepaid card for the NEX there at RTC - I didn't realize it, or forgot that they had told us about it. We had just gotten our military IDs earlier that week, and were told to "get our card" to go to the NEX. I figured that the military, surely, had our IDs tied to a computerized system and would just dock what we picked up from our pay. We can reverse-engineer UFOs, why not a simple networked database that a highschool student could code?

Chief wasn't too happy, and I may as well have worn a dunce cap.

FYI - the military can't even run a basic pay system. I don't know how they get this screwed up - no one jumps three ranks in a month, switches from E-6 to O-6, or any of the stuff they seem to pull off on a regular basis. My favorite is: "Well.. we paid you twice as much as we should have last month, so we just decided we shouldn't pay you this month."

You've made some very logical conclusions about our problem here in the states. But sometimes rationality means nothing. Sometimes even science is irrelevent. By the time it took our people to show the world the corruption of the planning behind the wars in Afghanistan, Iraq and Iran currently and the occupation of our troops in 75% of the world is blashpemy! and demonstates the totalitarian entity it has become. If we are not allowed to expose Genetically modified foods and chemtrails(Could be false, but I believe there is evidence) Flouride in our water. BPA in our canned goods, and a scare now even on our money. The fake diseases and viruses they genetically engineer. With the same logic, evolution is also scientifically against it?
