Iowa steps up on Homeland Security

Iowa will implement radiation and explosive detectors at weigh stations in an attempt to prevent transport of potential weapons of terror.
"Weigh stations are good places to detect the shipment of materials that can be used for weapons of mass destruction," said David Miller, chief of staff at the Iowa Division of Homeland Security and Emergency Management.They plan to randomly inspect trucks and containers with the detecting equipment which will be bought using Homeland Security funds.

DES MOINES, Iowa -- In an effort to stop terrorists from transporting bomb-making materials or stolen nuclear weapons, Iowa will install drive-through radiation detection equipment at weigh station on Interstate 35 and Interstate 80 later this year.

This is good news and hopefully this will be the norm for all states in the near future.
