He also praised Indonesia — the world's most populous Muslim-majority nation — for a "spirit of tolerance that is written into your constitution, symbolized in your mosques and churches and temples, and embodied in your people," a quality worthy for all the world to emulate.

All that back-end kissing .. but the reality is ...

Church attacks soared to 460 between 1969 and 1998, after Soeharto’s government issued a joint ministerial decree on establishing places of worship, which was seen as favoring the nation’s Muslim majority.

After the start of the reform era in 1998, the number of cases skyrocketed to 700, bringing the total number of church attacks between 1945 and 2010 to 1,200.

gotta' agree with this conclusioin -

It is hard to imagine that President Obama would be praising the tolerance of a Christian nation if it had witnessed the burning of 700 mosques since 1998. .

If this is the kind of tolerance Obama is looking for, then we're doing it all wrong.

The United States is in no way comparable to Indonesia in the area of tolerance. Who is this clown named Obama?

If it's the world that Obama wishes us to model ourselves after, then we'll have to take an about face.

I think he was speaking in terms of other "intolerant" majority Muslim nations...

BTW - Maybe you can peruse the FBI USA stats for context as to "Tolerant"

There were 1,606 hate crime offenses motivated by religious bias in 2008.
There were 1,477 hate crime offenses motivated by religious bias in 2007
There were 1,597 hate crime offenses motivated by religious bias in 2006

Crimes against property
In 2006, there were 4,165 hate crime victims of crimes against property.
2007: The majority of the 3,579 hate crime offenses that were crimes against property (81.4 percent) were acts of destruction/damage/vandalism

Etc.

So how do you define tolerance? In comparison to the USA? Or in Comparison to the Islamic Republic of Iran? etc.

Sunday, on the eve of All Saints' Day, Nov. 1, 2010, the faithful gathered at the Assyrian Catholic Church of Our Lady of Salvation in Baghdad.

As Father Wassim Sabih finished the mass, eight al-Qaida stormed in, began shooting and forced him to the floor. As the priest pleaded that his parishioners be spared, they executed him and began their mission of mass murder.

When security forces broke in, the killers threw grenades to finish off the surviving Christians and detonated explosive-laden vests to kill the police. The toll was 46 parishioners and two priests killed, 78 others wounded, many in critical condition after losing limbs.

Not too much being said about this event, either...

Happened in so-called "peaceful" Iraq.

Um ... I'm not seeing that. I really don't think so.

So how do you define tolerance?

I'm reminded of - What is the definition of 'is'.
Tolerance is tolerance. Comparisons have nothing to do with determining tolerance.

If it looks like a duck(have you seen his picture of him in his turban and gown?), walks like a duck(bows down to the muslim kings and Imams), sounds like a duck(Hussain Obama), it's a duck.
