Could a language barrier be a halt to Alien travelers visiting earth?

How the hell would they communicate with us?

What if aliens don't have vocal cords at all? ...LoL What if they don't even talk, and are death..and operate via sign language, or drawings?

Actually the Neanderthals had a form of language but theirs still controversy over how they went extinct. Some say that they just slowly went extinct and that we outbreeded them. Others say that we interbreeded with them and the Neanderthal is part of us. Also if the Aliens can use tools and used machines and vehicles that got them to our planet, it wouldn't be a stretch that they wouldn't understand mathematics. Just doing 1 plus 1 is a start and they would under stand one of one object plus one of another equals two in their mathematics and understanding.
