Turkey rejects kidnappers' demands

June 27, 2004
TURKISH Defence Minister Vecdi Gonul today rejected demands by kidnappers who threatened to behead three Turks in Iraq, saying Turkey never gives in to demands by terrorists.

I think the point Valhall was trying to make is that the Turkish government is not known for their restraint in matters like this.

One thing worth noting is that analysis of the videos of these incidents has been sharp enough to raise serious doubts as to whether they are legitimate, ie. the people are who they say they are, or U.S./Allied propaganda operations. Consequently, I think we can expect that it will be more and more difficult for us to see the actual video, if in fact it is made available at all. The first video of the Korean kidnapping never appeared, as far as I can tell, and I doubt if we will see this one at all. No doubt in MY mind that sharp analysis is responsible.
