Saying taxes are theft is illogical?
I never said it, I simply said I don't see the logic in it.
Lets put this another way -
What do you think an appropriate punishment should be for me if I refuse to pay my taxes?
Depends on the society.
The government, on behalf of the rest of the populace that do pay their taxes, will bring formal criminal charges against you of varying degrees. An
audit will probably occur at some point as well.
If you then fail to respect the legitimacy of the elected government and resist arrest, you will be forcibly arrested.
Now you're going to say that immediately means that it is 'violent looting'. The problem is that you get legal representation, a day in court, and
the right to petition the government for grievance.
The only way you can justify taxation being 'violent looting' is in a non-representative government that doesn't allow for legal representation in
court and lacks representative governance.
