Detecting a virus in human tears in not new. Chicken pox and hepatitis are two other diseases that can be detected in tears. However, Sars is highly infectious and now poses a greater danger to health care workers.

Sars was also detected in sweat glands. This discovery impacts the ease of transmision through a handshake or through food.

How are tears transmitted to another person?

Not being a health care worker, I'm not quite sure.

Perhaps because this was a previously unkown method of transmission, the threat of transmission to health care workers is now increased.

Well I had better stop drinking peoples tears all the time, may catch something unpleasant *hehe*

Indeed this just adds another danger to the list of things that care workers have to be carfeful of which is not good. Now soppy films at the cinema really are bad for your health !
