"Vigilant Eagle": NORAD and Russia's very first JOINT military exercise!

This is BIG. This is of historical proportions. This is undoubtedly MAJOR NEWS, and yet it was kept hush-hush and you don't find this news anywhere on the mainstream media....

Straight from the NORAD website:

The North American Aerospace Defense Command and the Russian Federation completed the first joint 3-day exercise designed to establish clear communication processes that would allow the two forces to work together during a real crisis. The exercise, VIGILANT EAGLE, was an international air terrorism scenario exercised over the Pacific Ocean consisting of forces from the U.S. and Russia responding to the simulated hijacking of a B-757 en route to the Far East. The NORAD Planning and Exercise Directorate sprearheaded the exercise. Elements of the Transportation Security Administration Operations Center, Federal Aviation Administration, Defense Threat Reduction Agency, the 611th Air and Space Operations Group, 176th Air Control Squadron and the Alaska NORAD Region made up the U.S. half of the exercise while the Communications and Radiotech Directorate, Navigation Service of the Russian Federation Air Force, Office of Special Translation and Interpretation Operations Directorate and the National Antiterrorism Office made up the Russian half.

Russian Air Force Col. Alexander Vasilyev, Russian Federation Air Forces deputy director of security and safety said that despite the friction the two countries have had in years past, it is important for them to work together to combat the dangers of air terrorism. “Terrorism is something that affects all our countries,” he said. “So it is very important that we work together to develop procedures and bring the relationship between our countries closer together to unite our countries in the fight against terrorism.”

Even after looking at the source of the article a few times, I still have a hard time believing this is for real!

So THIS is where this whole War on Terror agenda is leading... If NORAD and Russia are on the way to military cooperation on "fighting terrorism" globally, this means that we are DEFINITELY on the way to a global World government as well. With China is already bending towards it, it's almost a done deal. No more conflicts between countries, just one big global governance that's realigning its common military strength against whoever's opposed to its rule, anywhere on the globe.

Its a good idea. There needs to be contingency planning between NATO/Russia in case of hijacked aircraft and such. The more co-operation the better

Given the way the world is going i tend to think the best place for russia is bound into the EU. Thats a long term project, if ever.

Good working co-operation on cross border terrorism is a step in the right direction. You'll know things are moving in the right direction when you see missile defence co-operation.

There has been suspicions that the US and Russia are covertly working together.

And "terrorism" is the rope to pull them together publicly.

My, a shout of "terrorism" sure comes in handy for controlling the masses, eh? Thanks for this! S&F

Just a couple of notes here. This is not the first NATO/US Russia exercise, they have had many, its the first time NORAD was involved. It should also be noted that this was first planned for 2008 before relashions hit a low point and just now has got back off the ground.

Probably a good idea they learn the ropes now, together, because it appears in 2012 they will need to know what to do without any communication equipment or radar.

I feel safer.
