USS Truman rescues 8 Iranian sailors in the gulf

Interesting story, although wouldn't the US navy help anyone in distress regardless of their nationality, as long as their not at war or putting their own men at risk. And the US isn't at war with Iran (yet?).

And it's likely they didn't know for sure that they were Iranian until they were picked up, or they may have thought they were civilians as seen from the air at that time.

Or it could be propaganda, but I don't see how it necessarily has to be.

Couldn't this be a ploy by Iran to get a 1st hand account of what's onboard a US warship?

Deliberately set fire to the boat with mostly fishermen but also a couple of military on board, and wait to see if the Americans would respond.
