We should try to be more respectful and say his name as often as we can, Bradley Manning. He is a person and we will not forget his sacrifice in the name of Freedom.

Who are we to know the real truth? Who are we to judge, but those that are actively losing our Freedoms every day, those that are losing our Country.

Bradley Manning. I can think of no better tribute than to remember a person for their deeds. I hope that soon more will follow, then this Congressman will sit lovely in his lovely estate with his lovely garden and his lovely life; so much for remembering his name.

Bradley Manning, his name isn't whistleblower any more.

Personal note: I am still open to understanding why and who is really to blame for this Lamo fiasco'/queer extortion stuff. I know there is a ton to take in but I am on the fence at this point. I will take Bradley Manning for his actions as a known. However, distracted as we all may be, no one will ever be certain how many additions to this vast collection of documents are coming from elsewhere, and elsewhere...and hopefully soon elsewhere. I could have sent something to Wikileaks, and you could have sent something. Even our own Government could send something. I am not sure if there is a jury of peers to review what data is presented and what is not; we only know that Insurance is the Business of the Day! Smart!

Of course it was a Republican who declared this nonsense. Who else?

What an intelligent group of people. Grow up.

I have a friend who watches Fox news. He's smart and he should display a little more perception, but he doesn't. The other day he asked me if I heard about the incident, and then claimed it was treasonous and put the safety of the country at risk, etc. etc.

Sigh.

I can't believe people actually think like this in the year 2010. We are supposed to be somewhat intelligent as a species by now.

How did I know it was a Republican?

And of course FOX news will bring it right to our door.

He's likely just doing the Republican "tough-guy-cowboy-maverick" thing to get his name out and grab some of the more "colorful" Conservatives out there (that like to hear this sort of thing) for his future voting base.

Next he's going to be screaming "You lie!" in Congress during presidential speeches and the camera will miraculously be right there on him when he does it.

Defying coincidence, courtesy and logic.

If anything should be illegal it should be the will to cover up and hide facts. Its funny hove the governmental society view this matter. If a investigator uncovers a crime committed by a citizen its a good thing. But if a soldier a citizen uncovers a governmental crime its jail time or possible death sentence.

You are on to wisdom. . If the government based on liberty/freedom hides or keeps secret from the citizens(We, the People) then they should not be the government. They are imposters or mockers, they take away your true freedoms for their benefit. A true governor would be honest and true, would say the truth of the wars in the Middle East. A true governor would tell all of these elected officials when they are full of special interests. A true governer would do justice to give liberty, freedom, who the real thieves are of creation. A true governor would talk to the people freely, without all of the "hide and seek" secrecy. True transparency, not a fraud. A true governor would have true wisdom on the whole view of life, past to present to future, not dis-torting it with wrong knowledge or wrong actions.

Sure! This guy would rather all the dirty little secrets stay hidden. Maybe he's got something He doesn't want made public knowledge. All the 'Army Private' did was tell THE TRUTH.
What a sociaty we have become when an honest man is threatened with the death penalty.
GOD BLESS AMERICA!
Heaven help us all!

I do not think that he should be executed, and I wonder who will stand up for him? When we see cops, criminals, or other cases, we stand outside of court rooms, there's media circus's, and protest's, even riots.

I hope that people realize that this man, took it upon himself to take his life and his freedom, so that he can stand up for those who cannot stand up for themselves.

I hope that he is not lost in the media distractions, and he can at least get jail time, but as for execution, I haven't heard anything about the people that are in the documents getting arrested, I don't see the guys that committed the crimes in question, or being talked about and degraded for making his country aware of the true atrocities of war.

War is a fight between 2 groups, not one over powering another, if we cannot learn from this and this man is executed then we can truly see that there is nothing left and we are more lost then ever before.

I do not pray, but I will hold this hero in my heart, and hope that this will not become an example for any future hero to step forward and speak up. That's what American is supposed to be about.

For those of you who hold that flag, for those of you who represent what you think is freedom, for those of you who support the troops whether or not you believe in this war, speak up. How could we allow a person that has risked their lives to protect us to become a martyr?

Or are our troops only excepted when they kill? He did exactly what a hero, no, what a soldier is supposed to do. He stood up for what is right. I just hope that others could be so bold.

Peace to you...

According to Ben Franklin: Treason is an excuse for the winners to hang the losers.
The problem with the entire wikileaks and the private is that it is a double edge sword. Did he do the right thing, probably, however, being a member of the military he is restricted by the UCMJ, and could be found guilty, thus going to prison for several years. The other aspect with the entire treason charge is that congress fully messed up the charge, as technically we are not at war, congress did not declare or authorize a declaration of war, therefore, it is not a war and so the treason charge can not be used. For better or for worse, the damage is done and the world now has access to all of the documents that were released. The down side is that the federal government is scrambling to redact and classify all documentation on the Iraq and Afganistan conflicts, putting a hold on all information coming out. The actions will ultimately lead to the censorship of this data, and information, making it harder for the public to get any information.

This is what you get for promoting the truth these days in America. The honest are villainized while the dishonest run the country. So this what life looks like in an upside down world.

so umm why does it seem that you guys think that mr manning is gonna get a trial by jurry etc or what not hes in the armed forces and was deployed when he did this there for its up to a military tribunal....now i have no idea how these things work but there rarely public and i dont even know if innocent until proven guilty works for military court(i realy have no idea other then he will be tried by a military court),so whats the process and what are his options for a military trial?

i see a few options

1.they hang him as a traitor

2.they dishonorably discharge him and or send him to jail

3. if he gets lucky they will just discharge him?

any one with more understanding of military courts could clear that up it be great

As The Record Of History Indicates - These Are The Conservative 10 Hallmarks Of Closing A Democracy/Republic Required To Install Dictatorships (Hitler's Germany, Stalin's Russia, Mussolini's Italy, etc...)

  1. Invoke A Terrifying Internal And External Threat (sometimes real)
    A. Patriot Act - War On Terrorism
  2. Secret (unaccountable) Prisons Outside The Rule Of Law Where Torture Takes Place
    A. Guantanamo Bay - Abu Graib - Torture Boats(?)
  3. Develop a Paramilitary Force - Not Directed By The People
    A. Blackwater (Xe) - Privatized Military Force
  4. Surveil Ordinary Citizens
    A. Terrorist Watch List (SSSS Designation)
  5. Increased Infiltration of Citizen's Groups
    A. Spy On And Subvert Antiwar Protests/Environmental/Citizen's Rights Movements Utilizing Provocateurs And FBI
  6. Detain and Release Ordinary Citizens
    A. Provide Front Page (even if erroneous) Propaganda
  7. Target Key Individuals
    A. Dixie Chicks - Ron Paul - Valerie Plame - Ed and Elaine Brown
  8. Restrict The Press
    A. Bill Keller (reporter)/Bilal Hussein(photographer)/Josh Wolf (freelance journalist)
    B. Espionage Act (silence dissent)
  9. Recast Criticism As Espionage And Dissent As Treason
    A. Amy Goodman (Democracy Now)/Mass Arrest (Republican Convention)
  10. Subvert The Rule Of Law
    A. Mussolini/Hitler/Stalin/Bush/Obama (grievous executive orders)
    B. Look Like A Democracy While Subverting Liberty (Freedom)

Yeppers...looks like clear indications of Numbers 8 and 9 to me.

Somewhere between 1,2 and 3, they've successfully subverted the Geneva Convention in the name of "enemy combatants".

Search the points made with letters to confirm the number points.

POINT: This has all happened before. Watch Naomi Wolf's - The End Of America

But wait...last we heard, Bradley Manning wasn't even charged with the leaked documents, right? Or did I miss something? I think so far all they really have him for is the video?

If the docs haven't been made public by Wikileaks they can't charge him with the leak of the documents once they won't hold the evidence to do so. Without the documents being made public all they will be able to do for what I understand is accuse him and make him a suspect in case based on something that allegedly happened, no?

Murderer Rogers, Keep him in jail please dont kill the kid.

EDIT :

He mentioned "fighting for your country" ... protecting the Arizona border IS fighting for your country. The war in Afgan is fighting for another country.

Ask any mother if she would have her kid kill by her country for any given reason.

But I would like to add that even though what he said he did might sound and have noble intentions, depending on the type of information contained in it, it could cause some pretty serious problems for the US if not triggering a war where many would die due to his actions and the words of others.

Messy thing for sure. Personally I hope Wikileaks has the good sense to not release anything that could compromise the country and it's entire population in one way or the other. Because this wouldn't be something solved within the US territory at "close doors", it would be doing the dirty laundry while having the entire world judging and taking advantage on each and every opportunity available.

actually ill play the devils advocate here......

Im not sure if any of you are familiar with military law, but what he actually DID was TREASON.......as defined there in..........

Punishable by death if seen fit........

i know a lot of you want to hug babies and kiss flowers and sleep in trees and admire rainbows and lick lollipops , but this is the real world.

Maybe what he did was right, maybe it wasnt, Im not here to judge, I just know it could have put a lot of military people at risk and thats treasonous activity......

[edit on 3-8-2010 by ManBehindTheMask]

is time to see the reality that not everything is candy's and flowers.
Is thanks to US military power that US chas been the most powerful nation, and if it were not for that maybe today us citizens would immigrate to mexico.
