You answered your own questions sort of. Planes need alot of room to play. ALso, nevada in terms of area is the least populated state in the union. Also, when it became a state the Feds annexed over 70% of it for federal use. THere are by far bigger screts being held out in the desert.

Area 51

I have taken the trip to the border of Area 51....Its interesting to know the military is still trying to test new technology in this day and age.

My mother and father were both in the Air Force in the middle to late 60's. Both had codeword level classification...but never knew about Groom Lake. However my father did see A12's at CCK in Tiawan in the 67-68 time frame...
